It's May Day!
Let's get a thread going of inspirational revolutionary analysis.

Escalating US strikes on Yemen killed 68 African migrants. The majority of migrants in Yemen are Ethiopian.
This is horrifyingly similar to the 2019 airstrikes on Tajoura Detention Center in Libya, killing over 50 African migrants enduring torturous detention.
No bombs.
No borders.
No cages.

We remind LAS our contract fully guarantees the expression of personal religious, political, social, or economic beliefs of each and every one of our members at work. This union will always stand together in solidarity against injustice. An injury to one is an injury to all. /6
Discussions, reflections, and remembrances about past and present injustices are central to our daily work and these exchanges ensure we approach our practice of law zealously. /5
Every day our members are on the front lines advocating for our clients and New Yorkers, against mass incarceration, loss of housing, family separation, deportation, and other forms of state violence. Our fundamental work is to resist state violence on behalf of our clients. /4
The Society asserts that a whole range of topics from the release of political prisoners to past and present human rights violations do not relate to the “business” of The Legal Aid Society and that employees who email about them are “insubordinate”. This is unacceptable. /3
The Legal Aid Society Attorneys Chapter Executive Board denounces The Society banning emails discussing International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the genocide in Palestine, war in the Middle East, Black History Month, Trans Remembrance and World AIDS Day, and MLK Day. /2
For 56 years, our union has zealously defended clients from state violence. Our politics and our jobs are intertwined. We have fought hard to protect the free speech rights of our members. Now, those rights are under attack by our employer. 🧵/1
one of key functions of immigration raids & crackdowns is not to actually deport all migrants/refugees but to deepen conditions of social precarity & labor deportability. to make migrants more vulnerable to exploitation from bosses & landlords & banks, and to create scapegoats for austerity policies
Today, in order to satisfy the genocidal logic of zionism, Netanyahu escalated attacks on Palestinians. Using drones and US Apache helicopters, the US-backed zionist army bombed a refugee camp in the West Bank, killing civilians, children, and medical staff.

Roads in the west bank blocked, Palestinians from Jerusalem receiving text messages telling them to go back to Jerusalem, mass arrests, and almost 900 checkpoints set up across the territory.
Whats going to happen to the west bank?

“…while attempts to invoke the rule of law or to challenge constitutionality may be the tools most readily available to legislators at all scales of government, the rest of us don’t need to reach for them…”
one material thing we can do is to donate to mutual aid collectives like the Sameer Project, which has been providing tents, blankets, medical aid, and cash aid to people who have been displaced: chuffed.org/project/1132...
Cops are killing in prisons. And guards & staff are killing in prisons. The incarcerated are a population dehumanized to justify their being held in appallingly inhumane conditions where anything can be permitted to be done to them with impunity. This is America’s police state.
California forcibly sterilized hundreds of women. Then, it 'allowed' them to apply for compensation.
But only ≈15% of the affected women have gotten compensation so far. Many were denied.
And the deadline to apply/appeal is in just 10 days, leading to an unfair rush many don't know about:
