This is but an exploratory study of the complex relationship between green technology and critical raw materials. Our mapping in geographical and technological spaces suggests many interesting avenues for future research.

1a) Once we account for how "rare" minerals are we observe an even more nuanced picture with some subcategories standing out i.e. renewable energy, solid waste management, 'green vehicles' and heating & ventilation - check out the red squares in the image

New publication alert! In a newly published paper, my coauthors and I provide an exploratory analysis of the relationship between critical raw materials (CRMs) and green technologies. Using patent data and mineral production data we address three main research questions.

Emissions are not distributed equally. Just 5% of power plants generate 75% of power sector emissions; 12% of people consume half the beef produced; 2% of aviation emissions come from the 0.003% who are (private jet users; etc.
