How does one become an expert in Waffle House teleportation? Asking for a friend.
This image features a quote from The New York Times discussing the financial impact of the SAFE Act on Kansas's government, estimated at $353,000. The background includes dollar bills and a ballot box with a "Vote" emblem. Sources cited are Demos, Campaign Legal Center, and State Voices.
Documentary proof of citizenship requirements don't make elections safer; they leave people out of the democratic process.
As our report—mentioned in @nytimes.com—shows, these laws have an unequal impact on people of color and a huge effect on state budgets. https://demos.nyc/4dSIc6t
A teenager was struck and killed by a CTA bus on South Shore Drive in December. The CTA bus driver didn't even stop until passengers started screaming at him.
Kids should be able to ride scooters and walk in our neighborhood.
I see my former classmates proudly sharing CDOT strategic reports, saying that active transportation is "noticeably different than it was four years ago."
Really? Maybe where you live.
Not in South Shore.
Painted a pride flag in crosswalks on 71st and Jeffery? Replaced a couple flexible bollards?
It's remarkable that no one even mentions any changes to the roadway or traffic calming measures. There's not a single traffic light between 71st and 78th on Exchange.
South Shore has two of the most dangerous intersections in the city year after year.
Nothing changes.
It is so on brand for Chicago that a driver hits and kills a child in a hit-and-run, hits ANOTHER child, and the media blames the child and their scooter. www.chicagotribune.com/2026/03/25/s...
Remember when Gavin Newsome was like "Even I succumbed to the woke mind virus!...eww, homos! Who likes them?? Surely not me."
It was like last month.
This'll have virtually no effect on trans women, who already weren't competing in the Olympics (in the more than 20 years in which trans women could participate in the Olympics, a grand total of... 1 actually made a team. She came in dead last in her event).
However....

"I’m constantly calculating scenarios of witnessing a neighbor being taken or being stopped and having to show my passport. My child is a Black boy whose voice has completely changed this year. How do I explain that he’s so young?" hammerandhope.org/article/minn...
A year later, I'll say: we will never know— we will never have the faintest idea— how much money is getting made in insider trading windfalls from people in Trump's circles who have an hour of notice about the chaotic swings in stuff Trump just *says* about the war with Iran.
I hope they’re surrounded by love and support right now. I hope this changes something.
Kill your idols. Protect your sisters.
So much love and solidarity to Ana Murguia, Debra Rojas, Dolores Huerta, and every other survivor. Chavez was just a man; women like them, then and now, are the true heroes of the farmworkers’ movement.
Trump: If ICE isn't enough, I'll bring in the National Guard to airports.
the president lying about high level peace talks taking place with the country were at war with, all to juice the stock market, is a gigantic scandal but also its just kinda another monday
ICE agents shot & killed Silverio Villegas Gonzalez after he dropped his kids off at school in September.
Minn officials launched investigations into Pretti & Good's killings. Cook County has not done the same for Villegas Gonzalez.

Article text reads "to assist with staff shortages." Photos show ICE agents and officers standing around....
You're not going to do anything good for farmworkers if the woman *leading* your movement isn't safe. It's that simple.
once more for the people in the back: changing the world is "more like caregiving than it is like war"
I think this story is helping me understand why the generation Dolores Huerta inspired was so strongly tied to the idea that activism should be intersectional before anything else. It's not a buzzword, it's about keeping abusers out of your movement
I read the NYT piece, and I am holding onto the words of a woman who fended off inappropriate advances from a 60-year-old Cesar Chavez at the age of 19. “It makes you rethink in history all those heroes,” Esmeralda Lopez said. “The movement — that’s the hero.”
This is ridiculous.
Dyslexia (or any other disability) should not be disqualifying for a presidential candidate.
Newsome should be disqualified because he is a transphobic, neoliberal, centrist stooge.
Hey, I know you're suffering because we waged a pointless, massively expensive, forever war that I promised would never happen if you elected us, and we did it without the slightest bit of preparation, which is compounding the pain, but hey, at least a bunch of foreigners are suffering more!
New: The legal attacks on transgender Americans are moving fast beyond questions of school sports and youth gender medicine. Democrats are getting caught flatfooted, as they're still debating how to respond to the wedge issues

There are effectively 2 theories of the case
One is that silence on sports and minors made it easier for conservatives to push far broader restrictions. The other is there's no middle ground, and every concession just becomes grounds for the next attack
