Yeah, nix pretty much controls my life at this point lol

Once everything kind of clicks, it's suddenly becomes worth the pain to nixify things that aren't

To be fair, I am taking over an existing package, so someone else did that part.

Bit the bullet and finally decided to become a maintainer for a package in #nixpkgs. It is a simple package, but lots of development and releases to keep updating to.

Red Bull's Crashed Ice should absolutely be an Olympic sport as well.

A successful Git branching model In this post I present a Git branching strategy for developing and releasing software as I’ve used it in many of my projects, and which has turned out to be very successful.

I think I first saw this model at the below link. The style is surprisingly similar πŸ‘€

I want to move my VPSs over to a #Canadian hosting company, but it seems like so much work.

Does anyone have any tips on migrating the data? They're all #nixos machines so at least the configuration will be easy to copy over

Also looking for recommendations on the provider!

I fought for safer Toronto streets after my friend was killed five years ago. Now Doug Ford is undoing that work Premier Doug Ford and Transportation Minister Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria are actively dismantling the very infrastructure that so many of us fought to put in place.

"Road safety should not be ideological. The data is clear. The solutions are known. And the cost of inaction is not abstract β€” it is measured in futures erased, in love with nowhere to go, and in grief that never resolves" - Vanessa Gentile #biketo #onpoli

β€˜It’s not a loophole:’ Toronto has plans to install 20 km of new bike lanes despite provincial legislation Toronto has found a way to install 20 kilometres of new bike lanes while still complying with provincial legislation that places significant restrictions on new cycling infrastructure.

I have so much respect and appreciation for the city staff who are doing their absolute best in a hostile environment to deliver on cycling network expansion for Toronto.

And here in Toronto, we're worried about pickleball

I googled it and turns out he used that same "humility" line when Ford began threatening to remove the Bloor/Yonge/University bike lanes

At least if he's busy running for mayor, he can't run for councillor... Right?

He also voted against the RapidTO plan for bathurst, which is certainly "practical road design changes", so I'm a bit confused on what he would like to see.

Ah, we're very much a #vuejs / #rails company, but there's been some work recently to open that up.

I haven't done much react at all πŸ˜…

I am a big fan of #FOSS and occasionally contribute (minorly) to #NixOS, which is my go-to #linux distribution.

I also play #VideoGames on linux. Been playing as much as I can while having a 6 month old. I think root is still my favourite #BoardGame, but ARCS is a new contender for that title.

Hey! I’m Andrew, and I’m a frontend engineer living in #Toronto. I love riding my bike around town in our slowly expanding cycle network.

For work, I am forced to use #JavaScript and #Vue, but if I am working on side projects, I’d rather play with #elixir and #FunctionalProgramming in general.
