I think it runs for Christmas and for International Haiku Poetry Day. I believe the Indian kukai is still going, which is much bigger. The Haiku Foundation Kukai I believe operates under different rules but is similar.

I feel that 'slushy' haiku tend to do better, but one can't always pull those out of thin air, can one?

Perhaps a bit too postmodern for most tastes🤨

I believe this is the name for verses similar to the tanka's structure but longer, such as 5-7-5-7-5-7-5-7-5-7-7. These were done in Japanese, more rarely in English syllables but not unknown.

More a #kyoka but in classical tanka form of 5-7-5-7-7 syllables. I'm up to 7 variants of this so far, including some #choka versions.

enemy within
humanity trolls itself
time and time again
there is nobody to blame
