To mark the passing of CBS News Radio, I wrote about how it began—with a forgotten broadcast from a Black prison inmate.
I came across this incredible story while researching my biography of Edward R. Murrow, and you can read all about it @columjournreview.bsky.social. 🗃️

For Taco Tuesday I wrote a long post which, buried w/in it, includes a description of 2 acute psychological dilemmas Trump is facing.
1) To win v Iran, Trump has to fight Putin
2) To make a deal, Trump has to admit Obama is smarter than him
Neither is tenable.

Lovely shot
“Within a week she seemed back to normal. What I didn’t know was that measles can cause long-term complications. A child can seem fine while the virus slowly replicates in her brain, poised to exact a terrible toll years later.”
You don’t want measles. You can prevent it with vaccination!
Every discussion like this that fails to consider the profound psychological impacts of the pandemic, corpses stacked in refrigerated trucks, farewells to family over cell phone videos, the prospect of invisible death...is incomplete. The USA had, and has, PTSD, and that affects everything.

The Latin at the bottom reads: "Grows but in waste places, and at roadsides, and along hedges. The very best medicine for healing."

A vertical screen print style poster in red, yellow and black, featuring the quote by Dom Helder Camara: "When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist." The edges of the poster show a packed village with small houses, and a road leading to skyscrapers in the far background. A red sun in the upper right shines its long yellow rays across the image.
“When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist.”
Originally made as a screen print in 1990, we now offer this thought-provoking poster digitally printed on heavy cover stock.
Sometimes I wonder if it is just me. Or if something fundamental broke inside every one of us the moment Covid arrived. I had a baby in 2020, and somewhere between the raw survival of newborn nights and Long Covid illness, the world slipped out of alignment. Now I can’t tell what changed more, me or the rest of humanity. I still try to build friendships. They begin warm, effortless, almost luminous. Then something falters. A tone lands wrong. Or a silence between us stretches one heartbeat too long. And just like that, they vanish from my life.

The essence of the Midsomer Murders series. Recreate the UK that is fading.
You watch Jon Ossoff speak like this about the actual stakes & then you watch Andy Beshear speak about Funny Words, & the abject poverty of the latter approach to Democratic politics in 2026 is so stark that you don't know whether to laugh or cry about the latter.
I almost always re post Ida Lupino photos
ZOHRAN MAMDANI: "It is sad that for too many Americans when they want to look for ambition in the Democratic Party, they have to turn to a history book."
Marvel had a run from Iron Man up to about Civil War when they had a handle on the story arc and hadn't yet crawled up their own nether regions...then the core story got away from them and they kept throwing pasta against the wall in a vain hope to repair their excesses...all in vain.
Yes
It's that Cyrus the Great thing...added to their Born Again experience where yesterday's transgressions are erased.
I binge WWII movies. There's an itch that needs scratching.
Sarah Kendzior and Goliath's Curse...I may need an intervention.
Odd how the 13 seasons are in reverse chronological order, slightly jumbled so 11, 12 & 13 aren't all B&W.
Tubi has over 700 WB cartoons streaming free and on demand. Groups of 3 in episodes, organized roughly in chronological order. My stress decompression watch. The character evolutions are a hoot. The proto Bugs with Daffy's character is nuts.

One of the better Bond theme songs.
Possible FSB psy-ops team advising. They’ve been gaming this type of stuff for years. Perfect opportunity for them
Extraordinary photo...
He's very straightforward on his technical process. And he seems to be very committed to delivering the most authentic restoration he can produce.
Dellow is a professional sound restorer...pretty extensive catalog. Here's an interview with him on the release of one of his Judy Garland projects. judygarlandnews.com/2019/03/04/i...
Can we give it a rest with the "selling his soul to the devil" nonsense. He got good by studying with other musicians and practicing. Why repeat the myth as if it's a thing?
All clear
Our second Tornado Warning of the Spring here in central IL. I would like to personally thank the person who figured out how to put weather radar on my cell phone, cuz they are saving my sanity.
