A watercolor painting of a Blue Jay sitting on a branch, with a loose blue and purple background.
My painting of a Blue Jay from 2023 fits perfectly into today's #BirdOfTheDay theme - #blue.

Watching "Jin-Roh" again in 4K with more accurate colors ♡
A kigyar driving a repurposed UNSC cyclops mech. A small covenant drone armed with needlers flies overhead.
You know, a town with money is a little like a Kigyar with a stolen UNSC mech.
No one knows how he got it, and danged if he knows how to use it.

Played some Mothership (horror TTRPG) at my local game store and doodled my character while playing.
She’s a doctor who signed for a mission because The Company will pay off her student loan debts after. Unfortunately for her team, her doctorate is in art history and she also has weak nerd arms😅

Wait Hirokazu Kore-eda is directing this? My interest suddenly increased exponentially.
One of my absolute favorite directors.

That’s wonderful to hear. :D

I have a lot of conflicting feelings about the war, but I am always grateful for the people I met, served with, and learned from.

There's not a lot of new art on my end to share. I'm trying to force myself to at least just do basics on the regular again as a goal: draw circles, figure studies, etc. Better than just...not drawing as I have been doing.
Last few months have been tough personally, and I'm overdue to move on.
I've been absolutely slacking on drawing the last few ?months? because of work and personal life so trying to reset and force myself back into it.
Going to try and at least repost some old art to force myself to engage with art more.
It's similar to why I enjoy the writing in Andor so much for how it feels so real. Some mysteries are left unresolved, some characters never get to change and grow. It's counter to the typical "save the cat" beat sheet, and more impactful for it.

One of my favorite things about Umamusume is that since the stories are based on the outcomes of real horse races, the victories and defeats both feel less scripted. A miracle run has real footage you can watch, and sometimes the protagonist of the story just doesn't win.

The visuals are gorgeous. I had a lot more attachment to the characters as a fan of the series, but I think it’s largely accessible to new folks. If I had any major critique it’s that there are times I wish it had more time to delve into specific individuals and moments. But great overall.
I liked the Umamusume movie a lot! It has some minor pacing issues that keep it something I could recommend to everyone, but it does a nice job finding interesting, creative, and often gorgeous ways to portray the character’s attachment to racing and I do recommend it overall!
it's all just art. "porn" is just art that makes you horny, in precisely the way that "horror" is art that makes you scared and "metroidvania" is art that makes you write video essays

Cosmic Princess Kaguya – Movie Review
Vocaloid, fairytales, and major sapphic energy combine to create an early contender for best anime film of 2026.

I really need to make time to draw. I’m dying a bit here being drained every day w work and personal stuff.
Cosmic Princess Kaguya (streaming on Netflix) is quite good. Really gorgeous animation and music, and charming characters.
It’s on the long side, and arguably could have been split up into a series, but I enjoyed the entirety of it, and it does some really fun things with the tale. I recommend it!

The take on Hamlet was neat conceptually but by the end I really just felt an urge to rewatch The Northman, which manages to forge a more compelling message of what the quest for revenge does to a person.
Did anyone else watch Scarlet? Would love to hear your thoughts on it: What worked for you and what didn’t.
I liked the character designs. The concept of the other world was neat, though visually it was bland other than the sky.
Eyyyy congratulations
Hosada still creates absolutely gorgeous visuals that are top of the industry, but the characters and overall strength of the narrative range from lacking impact at best to being downright confusing and baffling at their lowest.
Still enjoyed Scarlet, but nowhere near the level of his early work.
