Shimamura saying her favorite type of person is "someone devoted to her" is SO CUTE!

I just caught up with the series using your translations. I was recommended them over the official English versions after watching the Anime and feeling a bit disappointed that I knew there was more.

I know this post is a month old so it's odd to comment, but I hope this project is progressing well

The Singed Blue Dot
A Testimony From a Witness to Earth’s destruction
I was 32 when the sun swallowed the earth whole. Not just earth, but Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, and almost all of the asteroid belt. I remember it vividly, I think everyone does. It was a tragedy, the whole of the human race watched with rapt attention as the ground from which we were born as a species was burned to a crisp.
The invention of instantaneous communication through entangled particles opened up the idea of interstellar travel. The journeys were long, but keeping in touch meant that we were more okay with leaving our home world behind. First we colonized the moon, and then came mars. We set up science labs on the moon Titan. After a while we began to travel to the neighboring stars, using what we now call ‘slow travel’ at first, but soon we discovered a way to make exotic matter capable of stabilizing wormholes. We now colonize a total of 10 stars, 16 colonized planets housing 25 billion humans.

I was stood on the upper floor of a mall in the city of Ardsberg on the planet Newton. I was buying a new phone for my daughter, walking out of the store when all of the screens in the mall illuminated. There was a warning, “graphic footage.” Not really enough to sum up what we were all expecting.
We had some idea this was coming for the last few years, the recent destruction of the newest human colony via flood had people worried. Some people had decided to stay, to be with their homes when the waters came. The scientists wanted to avoid that mentality this time. They began encouraging the people of Earth, the Martian and Lunar colonies, and even those in the labs on Titan to evacuate. There was a surprise when there was almost no resistance.

Almost no one had actually lived on Earth those days, I mean, why would you. It was one of a dozen habitable planets we governed, and of them, it was easily the worst. We’d heard stories, of course, of a time where the sky was blue and there were plants everywhere. Green ones. Weird right? But, at that time, people who had been there said it was hard to breathe, and the sky was grey..The only people living there were scientists and professors who taught at very prestigious colleges. There were also dozens of tourist traps, places where nature had supposedly been preserved, but it was far too expensive to visit, so I’d never even considered it.

Those people left first, the ones running the tourist traps. I think they were afraid of getting sued by some family if they lost someone to the sun exploding while on earth visiting one of their ‘exhibits.’ The teachers left not long after. While the universities prided themselves for being earthbound, they prided their lives more, however. And to no one's surprise their cost of admission has only marginally lowered to reflect this. The last people to leave were the scientists. As much as they valued their lives, a lot of them stuck around, how many chances do you get to collect data on the Apocalypse, afterall. Not that it felt like one. and even they left in the end. All in all, earth went from about a billion people to maybe a dozen who refused to leave. Nothing we could do to force them out. I try not to think about it.

I can't stop people from using AI.

But I can not buy books that used AI.

I can scroll past AI "art"

I can make it non profitable to use AI by being vocal about how soulless it is.

And in doing so, WE can stop people from using AI.

Tolkien was long-winded, but he was long-winded because he loved the world. He spared no detail so that you could, maybe for a moment, see things the way he did.

‘You can’t stop people using AI so what’s the point in speaking out’

The utter defeatism of that assumption explains so much about AI users tbh. ‘I can’t do it, so why try waah’

Like … maybe if you fucking try and don’t give up in the face of difficulty you’d see ✨results✨

Sorry if I annoyed anyone by reposting a bunch of my old stuff, but I figured it'd be nice to try and get some eyes on it.

Horse Riding into War Features a helmet and a horseshoe, split and merged into one. This one took me hours, but I'm still happy with how it looks! (2/2)

About the covers of my #Romance #Novella series.

Sword Fighting in the Garden has a simple Sword & Rose, crossed like blades. I'm not a very good artist, so it took me some time to make it right. (1/2)

I'm so proud of having designed the covers for my Novellas myself. I know they are simple, and honestly, I don't have much talent for visual art, but it's 1000% better than AI Slop. #FuckAI #WritingCommunity

I reread books all the time. I play video games more than once, and rewatch movies, too. When I fall in love with a story, I will find as many excuses to relive it as possible.

...pretty dang close. 47,025. So that number became my goal, 3,135. If I could do that 14 more times, I could fill in the gap with a slightly shorter 'epilogue.' bam, novella done.

This may not work for everyone, but I really find doing the math to help.

When I wrote the first chapter of SFITG, it was done in a haze of inspiration. It ended up at 3,135 words.

That's a far cry from my 50k goal for my Novellas, but, multiply it by 15, and you get... (1/2)

Hello, if people did any of this for me I would cry

Look, I wanted to commission an artist for the covers of my Novellas, but I couldn't afford it. So...

I did that shit myself. Fuck AI. Even my simple ass emblems are more soulful than AI Slop.

This is a rare feeling for me. Most "something cool" moments in my stories I have planned before I reach them, so when a moment comes up AS IM WRITING it, it's really a special feeling.

Do you have a friend who is a #sapphic woman? Or just a friend who loves #LGBTQ+ fiction? Might I suggest my books for your Christmas Shopping consideration?

Some lore from my Novellas!

In the world of SFITG and HRIW, there are two suns! Moro and Woro. Woro is the first sun to set, and Moro's light is paler that Woro's.

There is also no moon! Though the word "eclipse" does exist, it simply means to "overshadow" something.

1 year ago 0 1 0 0

Cool, anyway, Sword Fighting in the Garden and Horse Riding Into War are both available as ebooks and physical books, and neither were made using AI Slop!

Sometimes something magical happens to me, and I can really put words on a page.

The last 3 days before I finished the rough draft of Horse Riding Into War I wrote 5k a day. The last 15k was written in 3 days.
It's usually much slower for me...

Do I feel bad shamelessly advertising on almost every post I make here? I do. (Links to my Novellas in my pinned, btw.)

But here is the thing that makes me feel a little better about it. I'm honest about trying to sell you guys something. I make it clear the stuff I'm promoting is my own.
