Like most of you, I spent #EarthDay right here.

I find myself applying a favorite Kids in the Hall bit to a lot of people these days. "I'm crushing your head. Crush. Crush."

Sad news at our doorstep tonight. Clannad has long been a fave, and her voice? A treasure.

I just know that if I post about doing some maintenance on my Silver Jet this morning, a lot of folks in here aren't gonna know that I'm talking about a guitar by Gretsch and not a method of air travel.

Those vintage Dells are wonderful. What a pile!

Same. While not fan of tribute acts, I’ve got no issue with bands picking up new personnel so they can keep going.

btw, I def enjoyed the Yardbirds show I caught at the Iron Horse back in the Before Times. New guys were all really fine players, did the songs justice.

The present-day Yardbirds are the same deal. Original drummer, and the rest...well, not. I imagine Foghat would be a hoot, but yeah. Too long a drive from here, too

Took the insulating wrap off our foundation today, put away the shovels, roof rake, and snow melt, and then stored the snowblower all snug and covered up behind the barn. If you hear the plows go by on your street tonight, you now know who to blame.

Congratulations on the house. It's a strange and wonderful thing, owning a home. It kind of affirms one's place in the landscape, putting down more permanent roots. Rather than trudging like some soft, leafless Ent from lease to lease.

Today I will unwrap our house. IYKYK

Update: It was a great day, but we never listened to any of the CDs we brought. We had the radio on and just talked the whole way there and back. Wonderful sets by those guys. Ray had me up to sing harmony to one of his songs. Home before 10pm.

Going on a musical daytrip with my friend (and neighbor) Ray Mason tomorrow. He's playing a shared late afternoon living room gig in Rhode Island with our mutual NYC pal Eric Ambel. I'm riding shotgun and changing the CDs there and back. I'm having fun just thinking about it.

Dolly Parton Is the Most Popular Person in America, New Poll Finds A new University of Massachusetts Lowell poll finds Dolly Parton is the most beloved public figure in America, with net

Is it any wonder?

I have always been a huge fan of Dolly Parton. We're the same age, same height, share the same values, but she can sing better. And she has more Grammys. I've always wanted to meet her!

One hopes images like this, when paired with the knowledge that everything we burn ends up in that tiny slice of gasses, would help contextualize why we need to move away from energy sources we set on fire.

One hopes. Climate communicators should make some hay of this.

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.
