Not to be dramatic but the whole sport of baseball hinges on finding pitches you can actually hit. It’s an incredible take because a pitch down and moving down is fundamentally harder to hit well. It’s not “you gotta protect,” ump’s gotta get it right when it’s that far down.

Right, but again, something I’m trying (and maybe failing) to articulate is the original point didn’t intend to deny many are struggling. It’s about how society can’t agree on what’s right and wrong enough to hold powerful to account.

Is the implication a commentary can’t be made on the ease of life at a median without considering anecdotal perspectives on the low end? Of course there are people in a society who have it bad (and I firmly believe we should try to improve things for them). That isn’t the only marker, either.

Anyway, if a lot of people read it the same way, I didn’t communicate well enough. But your message clams I’m missing something I both don’t think I’m missing and also acknowledge I can’t really understand. I still don’t see the relevance because I’m mostly talking about the other half of society.

And there are like 40 people commenting on my specific life experience when I’m not even mildly relevant to this point (other than my experience is going to bias my perspective, and I’m making the observation, but again, I’m not talking about me).

My commentary is not about 100% of people but about the masses at large becoming complacent. You need unity from nonpowerful people to force change from the powerful. That a percentage of the masses became disengaged is the point; not a claim everyone did or would have.

I’ve gotten a form of this reply a lot, and I have to say I don’t understand how my argument implies I don’t understand the struggles of others.

My framework is powerful people are corrupt, throughout history, and the masses must reject the ways they will inherently try to maintain power.

(Only thing I really take issue with here or in other comments about my privilege is the idea I’m oblivious to it. Of course there are perspectives I can’t possibly understand. I was just sharing some thoughts, not trying to preach to those who know more, or have experienced more.)
