Outside right now. First time I’ve seen red northern lights with the naked eye. Crazy light show within city limits.

Why in the last 20 odd years have I managed to accumulate hundreds of random screws and bolts, but only 3 nuts. None of which are of course the size I need for the one nut that has gone missing.

This isn’t mismanagement. This is reality for every transit agency in Canada faced with bus prices that have nearly doubled since 2020, a gap in federal ZEBs funding, and little provincial support. Translink is the only transit agency that gets significant provincial from gas tax rebates.

This is only part of the story. A link at the bottom of the page directs you to their recent award of up to 107 electric buses to Solaris. Buying 25 diesel vs 107 electric is still a significant commitment towards zero emission transit. This is a slow down not a stop.

Why city planning needs diverse perspectives.

Touring possible commuter cycling routes.

What I saw - Smooth pavement. Separate from traffic. Shade. Not too busy. Perfect.

What my female partner saw - Blind corners. No lighting. No escape routes. Too few users. Wouldn’t use this route.

It’s a balance. If you don’t invest in clean transportation today, you are limiting your options for service improvement in the future.

Transit oriented development that also includes nearly 2 parking spots per unit, and the widening of a major corridor to accommodate the extra personal use vehicles. We are doing this wrong.
