Happy belated birthday to the Khalsa. (IYKYK)

I took a 23andme test back in 2018. They’ve changed my results so it’s more specific about the exact Chinese ancestry that I have, but here’s to my dad for telling me that it’s a waste of money because I paid $120 to be told that I’m ethnic Chinese.
Finally got one of those 7-11 egg sandos after work. I haven’t been to Japan yet but it feels like one of those “enjoy but only once” things because I could _not_ taste the Kewpie mayo despite it being a highlight. Bread was good, however.
I also brought this japchae fried rice. It’s light on its own but the flavours are well-balanced. If I have to buy this again, I am definitely buying a pack of beefless bulgogi to go with it.
I did wish that I bought more of these teriyaki mushroom bao buns from Trader Joe’s. The bun-filling ratio is perfect 🥹
Indeed good. And if I wasn’t committed to cooking all the recipes from Delicious in Dungeon (still need to finish E5-8), I would have considered working on a Witch Hat Atelier cooking panel.
(Quifrey’s soup and bread looks amazing, when I saw the premiere in theatres a few weeks ago)
After more shopping, we safely made it back to Vancouver last night. No border/safety issues during the trip; the worst thing that happened was a mom leaving her squabbling toddlers with me at the Costco food court table we both shared.
Also: Massive props to…
• Amelie/MunChi for getting me to try the drink when I was in Germany and Austria in 2024, as she asked me to bring back a can for her.
• The Kaffeeklatsch guy who put with me buying those drinks over two visits, and probably thinks that Spezi is my entire personality.
My sister and I checked the Spezi/Sunset website and it did say that we could ship the drinks anywhere in the US for a lower price. But we will have to figure out who can hold the corresponding packs for us first.
We’re heading back to Canada where I did a second Kaffeeklatsch Spezi run for…three cans.
Still worth it; this drink is impossible to get in Canada (not even with third party importers)
(I did get a whole 4.6kg Easter ham last week that was on sale, but cut, portioned, and froze it so my family and I can enjoy it throughout the year)
Back to the traditional Easter mochi donuts.
You can pry my oxford comma and em dash from my cold, dead hands.
I tried the Costco chicken bake (as a Canadian) and it’s a massive salt bomb. For every bite I took, it make me take a swig or two out of my water bottle 💀
Two of my colleagues clued me into Cactus after asking about good Mexican places, where I had this wonderful chicken taco!
I have found my beloved Spezi under the Sunset brand.
The view from my client’s office.
We also dropped by Dicks Drive-In for a long-overdue burger, as my last visit was in 2019.
This was a good combo. The fries tasted like Shin Ramyun, the Hunter sauce had the right amount of spice, and the Derpy McFlurry was not too sweet.
My mom, sister, and I are on the way to Seattle, where we tried the McDonald’s Huntrix meal and the Derpy McFlurry.
Happy April Fools!
While this isn’t a panel that we’re releasing within the next month, me, brosbrawls, and three others did submit the panel to Anime North. Unfortunately, it wasn’t approved.
brosbrawls and I would like to submit it to Otakuthon, but only time will tell if it’s accepted.
April Fools!
I've been working on a couple anime cooking panels over the past two con years, but I think it's time to go back to releasing at least one non-cooking panel every now and then.
Something involving...why those anime protagonists keep dying on the job.
Walked to the nearest 7-11 from my workplace after signing out in hopes of trying the new egg sando. They’re sold out!
Same. I’d err on the side of including that slide/clip outside of 18+ (or 16+ in @tsukinocon.com‘s case), in case someone complains to the convention.
ai feature implementation strategy is essentially “how annoying can we make the ui” so people accidently hit ai features so these companies can brag about how “highly used” ai features are internally
Especially for a college textbook sized hardcover.
(When I check out each volume from my local library after work, I’d have to either hold them in my two hands or put them in a tote bag when going home - they take almost all of my backpack space!)
Now that I am here, I want to highlight the panels that my friend Lana del Cosplay is running at Sakura-Con 2026 - both of which are worth your time (...and at 8:30 PM in Summit 345-346).
• Character Court - Fri April 3
• Himbology 101 - Sat April 4
And that would be my Sakura-Con 2026 lineup. If you're attending, have a fun and safe time.
I'll be in the background meeting up with colleagues from my client's Seattle office and visiting places with food that's near-impossible to find in Vancouver (good Mexican, Spezi, chicken bake)
Misc:
• If @webtoongenius.bsky.social submitted Intro to Manhwa and Webtoons, I would have been down to help her (be it as a co-panelist or in the background doing slide deck janitorial work for her).
• No HG vs. BR, but hope that Sunrise on the Reaping's digital film release is in early 2027.
