It’s approaching the 3 year anniversary since my last stand-up gig, and, to be honest, it’s proper weird to think about how big a part of my life stand-up used to be, and now it’s been 3 years since I’ve even set foot in a comedy club.

Why you searching up Sandie Peggie’s name on BlueSky just to argue with posts from over a month ago? Fucking weird behaviour.
It probably does also need further discussion of the fact that, when the government forces a private institution, such as a university, to platform a specific speaker voicing specific ideologies, through threat of a fine, that no longer constitutes free speech. That is compelled speech.

Headline from The Independent: Universities set to be fined up to £500,000 for failing to protect free speech The Office for Students (OfS) will oversee scheme, which will launch in time for the upcoming academic year
A new system designed to safeguard free speech at universities across England is set to be introduced, the government has announced. The Office for Students (OfS) will oversee this "first-of-its-kind" scheme, launching from the upcoming academic year. It will allow university staff, external speakers, and non-student members to report concerns regarding providers in England, according to the Department for Education (DfE).
The OfS said it has received reports of speakers and lecturers being "harassed and blocked" because of gender-critical or religious views, concerns about foreign interference restricting academic freedom, and job adverts requiring specific ideological beliefs.
The moment you tell a minority group that their existence, and how they’re allowed to exist within society, is up for debate, is the moment you silence that group and remove their freedoms. This sort of policy doesn’t protect free speech, it just forces the silence of victims of bigotry.
Just to let you know, you don’t need to give ad space to every cunt who offers you money.
i'm just worried that keir starmer is going to fire *everyone* who knew that peter mandelson was a wrong'un, and the unemployment rate in the uk will reach 99.99%

I do wonder how sick an individual you have to be to watch a genocide happening in real time, and feel comfortable publicly minimising it as simply “a response”.
Yeah, there’s a reason I screenshot the social post rather than linked the article. Such a blatant desperation for clicks.

Personally, I’m enjoying how slow BlueSky is currently working. I’m appreciating the extra 30 seconds I’m getting to fully assess whether or not I’m going to regret posting something before it actually appears publicly.

Nah. Not putting up with this gaslighting from BlueSky. Not at all.

Getting slightly worried that FourWomen Scotland appear to have lost a woman.

Holy shit, a British media organisation appears to have realised it isn’t their job to be as actively harmful towards trans people as possible. www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news...

He won’t make the Comedy Carpet anyway, mainly because he hasn’t been dead for 30 years.
James Acaster did a routine criticising Reform UK during a gig in Blackpool tonight, and a noticeable number of people left due to the content of the routine.
Anyway, the problem today is the woke left just don’t let you tell jokes. Can’t say anything anymore. Etc. Etc. You get the point.

Quote from Bridget Phillipson regarding imminent EHRC guidance regarding the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of sex in the Equality Act: “We are getting it right, showing leadership by implementing the clarity the Supreme Court ruling delivers.”
I’m fascinated by @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social continuing to claim that last year’s Supreme Court ruling provided “clarity”, when she’s spent a year struggling to actually implement the transphobic ruling in a fair and legal manner. Not sure if she’s gaslighting us or just trying to convince herself.

I think it’s more so that they know she won’t actually discuss the transphobia that led to Brianna’s murder, so they see her as a safe way of using Brianna to push to anti-phone agenda without any risk she’ll distract from the British media’s obsession with anti-trans ideology.
I wonder if they’ve kept the one that has Maya Forstater on speed dial for a comment any time any story even vaguely mentions a trans person.
Just seen Esther Ghey on ITV News once again chatting about banning mobile phones because of the impact they had on Brianna Ghey’s mental health, and I really do think it’s a shame that still nobody seems to have told her that her daughter was murdered by some people that she knew in real life.
So, erm… how many times are we going to allow ReformUK to pull this “we’ll discount your petrol today” stunt before we treat this as the bribery of the electorate in exchange for votes that it so clearly is? Like, there doesn’t seem to be anyone in politics or the media pushing for accountability?
Wish I could uninstall the phone app from my phone, to be honest.
Comment by Harry Kerr: At the hospital today.. I watched as female nurses were using the male toilets. When asked why they are using the male toilets. We were told it’s convenient. Reply by Ann Coleman: women are generally no threat to men, but men are frequently are a danger to women.
Couldn’t help but laugh at this comment, justifying women using men’s toilets by claiming that the women are fine to do so because they pose no threat to men.
Yeah, great point, mate. You realise the mens toilets are full of cis men, right? You know, the ones that frequently are a danger to women.
Sex Matters Facebook posts: Photos from the Edinburgh #OneYearLater protest organised by Women Won't Wheesht, in collaboration with Acts Grassroots, to mark one year passing since the For Women Scotland Supreme Court judgment.
A photo of 15 transphobes holding signs.
My favourite thing about Sex Matters anti-trans protests is just how close up they need to take the photos to disguise just how few people actually turn up.
