The Oath of Forbearance (Canis Rex) When the order came for planetary evacuation, Lady Augustina was faced with an impossible decision: uphold her ancestral oath to protect the tomb of the saint, or uphold her oath of duty to the Imperium. As the planet's defence force herded the panicked masses into evacuation craft, Lady Augustina spent her time locked in the reliquary in solitary meditation. She emerged days later with renewed purpose. She ordered the saintly monuments grafted atop their machines of war. No longer would her House stand guard while the Imperium burned around them. She would take the fight to the enemy, with the saints as her witnesses. The Oath of the Anchorite (Knight Castellan) Not all agreed with Lady Augustina's decision. For one pilot, disturbing the tomb of the saint, even if it meant saving it, was no different from allowing it to be desecrated. As penance for their broken vow, the pilot sealed themselves into their machine. Forgotten by the outside world, they communicate in the only language heretics understand: violence. The Oath of Vengeance (Knight Paladin) There was no shortage of prisoners: cowards, deserters, and collaborators; traitors all. No dungeon cell for these heretics to live out their miserable lives. Anointed, then chained screaming atop the Oath of Vengeance, their sin would be broiled from their flesh by the machine's exhaust, fuel for its divine vengeance. The Oath of the Martyr (Knight Gallant) We could not save them all. For each that stood, three fell. Even as our cannons sang volleys of cleansing fire, when the smoke cleared, only the rubble of sacred shrines and the bodies of martyrs remained. But we that survived must fight on. Where our armor failed, our faith will hold. The shattered masonry of holy sites is consecrated, inlaid into the gaps in our armor, and given new purpose. Each martyr's blade is etched with their deeds and driven into our machine of war, where faith alloyed with sacrifice crea…
