I would like to offer my most humble thanks to whomever in my house put a box of thin mints in the freezer weeks ago.

Axiom Mission 2 Launches to the International Space Station (Official NASA Broadcast) Axiom Mission 2, set to lift off at 5:37 p.m. EDT (2137 UTC) on Sunday, May 21, is the second all-private astronaut mission to the International Space Station. Ax-2 is launching from NASA's Kennedy Space Center aboard SpaceX's Dragon Freedom spacecraft—it’s the same capsule that carried NASA’s SpaceX Crew-4 astronauts to the station in 2022. During their scheduled eight-day stay aboard the orbiting laboratory, the crew of Ax-2—commander Peggy Whitson, pilot John Shoffner, and mission specialists Ali Alqarni and Rayyanah Barnawi—will engage in technology demonstrations, student outreach, and scientific experiments ranging from cancer treatments to weather research. Today's launch coverage is led by Axiom Space, with support from NASA and SpaceX; NASA's primary mission responsibilities begin during Freedom's approach to the International Space Station, the start of Ax-2 integrated operations. Learn more about NASA's role in Ax-2 and how we're working with our industry partners to open low-Earth orbit to more people, more science, and more commercial opportunities: https://go.nasa.gov/3O54kO1 Thumbnail credit: NASA/Joel Kowsky Music Credit : “Change by Nu Alkemi$t” Content ID : JWRDVGU4E26SNWIX Song: Created by Design by Cody Martin Content ID : 8WTFQBQNPL7LNDHO #Ax2 #NASA #SpaceStation

I've updated my human spaceflight lists at https://planet4589.org/space/astro/web/index.html
By my definitions, Peggy Whitson was space traveller no. 426, now on her 4th flight. Shoffner, Al-Qarni and Barnawi are space travellers nos. 645, 646 and 647.

SpaceX rocket 'go' to launch four private astronauts on Ax-2, a mission filled with 1sts, today Axiom Space's Ax-2 is the first private mission commanded by a woman and carries the first Saudi woman into space and first Saudis to visit the International Space Station.

In 5 hours, 4 humans (private mission) are launching to space. Space travel is the bleeding edge of the engineering humans have created as a species. This is why I believe in us. Ad astra. 🚀

And I don't know why the link card isn't working. It's space-themed nail art.

America’s first space station was in trouble after launch. Vibration had caused its micrometeorite & sun shield to get dislodged and hit one of the solar panels.

Power was dropping. Temps were rising. Toxic materials were leaking. Not great.

So they sewed a new one. By hand & saved the station.

Welcoming, definitely! Wholesome? Only if Alf's dick is wholesome. I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader.

Spot The Station See the International Space Station! As the third brightest object in the sky the space station is easy to see if you know when to look up.

One of the many reasons I love to spot the station (https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/ is because I can look into the sky and imagine the seven people living on that pinpoint of light - and remember that I have accomplished essentially nothing in this world.

The shuttle Atlantis was not in the museum when you were growing up. It was not built yet, and then it was in space. Also, do you have something against *more* space museums? 😁
