Thank you! I'm just grateful that there was good advice online and that I was at home when it happened. I love watching my neighborhood hummingbirds.

Thank you! I love watching my neighborhood hummingbirds, and was so relieved that this one recovered.

I had no idea if it would survive the collision, but if it was going to die, at least its last moments would be softer and warmer than a scratchy old doormat.

Hope to see it and its buddies flitting around the orange and lemon trees soon! (They were focused on my neighbors bottlebrush today.) 🌱

And just as they started to give guidance, the little guy flapped his wings a couple times and then sped off. I cheered and then almost started crying while still on the phone.

Sorry about having such a clean door little one. Promise to keep it dirty and easier for you to see in the future. 🌱

Put that and an old towel in the box, and then gently picked up the little guy and put him on top. He sat there for a good 20 minutes and watched me (I'd closed the door and sat several feet away). Finally called a local wildlife org to see if I should take him in for care... 🌱

Some scary moments yesterday. A hummingbird flew, HARD, into my glass door between my office and deck yesterday. I found it laying on the doormat barely breathing. Did some quick searching online, cut apart a contact lens solution box, nuked some bulgar in an old sock... 🌱

Hello 🌱 pals. Any idea what these little yellow and black bugs are (not the caterpillar) all over my davis milkweed? Are they baby ladybugs?

This thread got me thinking. Obvi, this is a small sample size, but all of the heavy AI users/fans I know are guys. Women (in my circles) use it for very specific/limited reasons. Why are guys using AI for validation when women aren't?

Thank you, friend.

Fuck. So not emotionally ready to deal with the onslaught of Mothers Day marketing.

There's a pizza metaphor (thick crust/skin v. thin) to be made, but I'm not clever enough with puns to wordsmith it.

Because women and girls are believed or not believed based on the political party of their predator, this is why we choose the bear.

I'm glad you enjoy them. But you say that they're great, and I'm allowed to express my opinion that they don't sound that way, at all.

As a west coast Jew who never heard of these until adulthood (and is also lactose intolerant), these sound nasty.

29 years since we won the big game. My junior year at UofA and one of the craziest nights of my life. Am I going to need to move back to Tucson to get another win?!

I'm so sorry -- sending gentle hugs.

It's been coming down pretty steadily for the past hour in East Oakland.

I needed this laugh this week...and here's a primer on Jewish ambulances for you non-tribe folks.

I grew up with a whole house fan in Fresno and that thing was magical. It cooled a 2800sqft house down in 20 minutes (40 years ago)! If I hadn't needed to replace my 80 yr old furnace last year, I probably would have just gotten a whole house fan for cooling rather than a heat pump for heat and AC.

This Jewish woman is so disappointed in you, @warren.senate.gov.

Made this tonight because

A. I'm trying to eat less meat for health and cost-savings and

B. I'm on week 2 of 9 of Invisalign, and chewing doesn't feel great

Happy to report that it tasted delish! The dill and feta really elevated it into something special. Looking forward to tomorrow's leftovers.

FWIW, the heat pump is great. Super quiet and I love waking up to a non-freezing house.

And then I did an apple to apple comparison of the three estimates. Mr Blue Collar quoted a unit that was way oversized for my house and location, and was the most expensive by thousands. I wonder if he would have tried to pull that with a guy (we know the answer to that...).

I had three vendors come out and give estimates for removing my ancient gas furnace and replacing with a heat pump last year. Two were obvious sales people, one looked like a blue collar guy who did the manual labor. First instinct was to go with him, since he was so non-salesy.

Yep, I get it. I miss having a heavy bag to take my stress/anxiety out on, but my hands are done with boxing.
