Generic applications with little or no relation to the job call will be left unanswered (save yourself the work). In your motivation letter you don't need to praise us, but let me know why you are interested in working on the problem, what qualifies you for it and how it fits into your career plan
Interested? Please send your CV and a meaningful letter of motivation to sinz@uni-goettingen.de
We welcome applications for women and other underrepresented groups in MINT/STEM fields.
Ideal background: computer vision and/or computer graphics, experience with VR/AR is a plus. Degree in CS, Physics, Math, or related subjects. Most importantly: motivated to tackle challenging problems that bridge computer vision and neuroscience.
The role: build computer vision methods and workflows to create realistic virtual replicas of experimental environments that allow us to render visual input from tracked animal behavior, and integrate this with deep learning models of the mouse visual system.
My lab at U Göttingen is looking for a PostDoc or PhD student to work on an ERC-funded project at the intersection of computer vision, graphics & neuroscience.

The MICrONS papers are finally out. Very happy to have been part of this. Joint work of so many labs lead by @andreastolias.bsky.social and Xaq Pitkow. Large scale efforts and data resources like these combined with cutting edge AI methods are great avenues to drive neuroscience forward.
The DFG is funding independent research groups in AI (tinyurl.com/36f5m6kd). If you're interested in coming to Göttingen (Germany) by applying for one of these groups, we have an online event to inform you what the process is and how we could support you (tinyurl.com/yfpeambm). Check it out!
excit*ed*, of course 🤦♂️ always read again before pressing post.
Really exciting about this work that just got accepted to ICLR as an oral. We use implicit networks to find stimulus invariance manifolds and then group neurons by aligning them to each other. Very fruitful collaboration lead by
@neuralbash.bsky.social and @lucabaroni.bsky.social.
🧠 Meet LAMINR: Where neurons meet their match—finding common patterns that keep them excited 🔥💘
LAMINR learns & aligns invariance manifolds of sensory neurons to reveal shared properties.
