Jacky is reaching to take her poncho back from Herman, who is significantly taller than her. He stops mid laugh to pull her up and peck her lips, then leans back with mischief all over him. Jacky looks annoyed but is beginning to turn pink. She lays her head on his chest and becomes limp, like a cat that has resigned to being picked up.

A proper scan. I changed a few things that were bothering me.

A space station hovers over a sweeping blanket of clouds above a gas giant. The shape of the ship is irregular with the top half suggesting a shiny metal football. Inside a larger oval, a light glows white with several concentric rings around it. A space port extends from the side of the station with a trail of rainbow colored dots floating in or away depending on how the viewer sees it. A ship with mechanized arms approaches in the near foreground. Behind, stars sweep across the black sky in a delicate cascade of blue and white. The edge of the planet is a washed out pink—almost white. A small moon hovers in the upper left background. On the right, a larger moon, more defined in its cragginess, catches a glimpse of sunlight with the near side remaining in shadow.

This began with a piece of Ampersand hardboard and jars of paint from AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS. I didn’t have a story in mind, but stumbled on influences that led me to imagine a “service station” hovering over a planetary gas giant. 1/7

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

Herman holding something out of Jacky's reach (that I haven't drawn yet). She's fully up against his chest flailing for it and mad. He takes the opportunity to pull her up for a kiss. She gives him an annoyed look for it and then lays on him like a cat with its ears back.

A warmly lit basement with dried plants hanging from the ceiling, crates wrapped in cord, stacked pottery and other useful clutter. Herman sits reclined against some sacks and a rolled up rug with something in his hands and looks annoyed while Jacky wobbles on a stool trying to get to the top shelf. As a yarn man AND extremely tall, he could easily just get it for her. Kind of out of character for them now just by virtue of Jacky being such a cat lol

There's a lot here to fix but it still holds up okay for being 10+ years old.

Jacky looks over a bus seat, annoyed. "You are over estimating how many fucks I have left to give." Whoever she was talking to (Jo) stands up and walks toward her. She slowly sinks away. In the last panel she has gone over the seat to the next seat. THe figure in the foreground has their hands on their hips. Jacky says "I found one."

A cowboy, a knight, and a pirate look at someone off panel like they've been interrupted. The person off panel (Jacky) is saying "Will the cereal mascots sit down and shut up?" The knight (Dave) gives up a thumbs up. "Okay."

From the seat behind, which she is much too small for, Jacky looks at Dave who is crammed into the seat ahead of her. Dave wears a full suit of armor at all times. He weighs a ton. The bus they're riding is making a horrific sound. Guy at the front, "Dave, can you move?" Dave gives a thumbs up. "Okay."

Jacky gets stuck on a long bus ride through the desert with Jo, Dave and Cardriff ( @sironaearts.bsky.social, @astronnut.bsky.social and @theartingace.bsky.social).
I have spent so many mornings recently laughing about how this would go.
