Big news on energy market reform today.

As we deliver the transition to clean, secure, renewable power, it’s vital we build a system that works for households and business, not profiteers.

Today’s announcement shows the Government is determined to deliver exactly that ✅

We owe men growing up in Britain today far better than the toxic views and scams peddled by the Manosphere.

But too often, we see boys as problems in waiting rather than exploring what they need from us.

Great to bring MPs and experts together to discuss how we can do better.

There are too many harms online that are targeted at men and boys, which damage them directly and then hurt and harm women and wider society as well

So I was more than up for signing this letter alongside other colleagues, organised by @alistrathern.bsky.social who has done so much work on this

We owe our young men and boys far better than the harmful extremes peddled by the worst corners of the internet.

But taking on the ‘manosphere’ demands action, not words.

That’s why the Labour Group for Men and Boys has convened MPs to demand Ofcom steps up and acts.

Regulate gas ➡️ Cut bills 📉

As we move to clean, secure renewables, we shouldn’t tolerate gas power stations profiteering.

Analysis from @greenpeaceuk.bsky.social shows moving gas power stations into the Regulated Asset Base could save millions off our bills.

Let’s do it ✅

Pushing for tougher heating oil regulation ♨️

I know how overlooked many of our rural community who rely on heating oil for home heating can feel.

❌ Left out of previous energy price support measures

Rapid funding to support vulnerable households this time is a big step forward ✅

Fighting to expand our GPs 🏥

Government investment in 1,600 more GPs is welcome, but in areas like ours where we have seen significant growth we need larger GP surgeries too ✅

If we’re serious about the climate, nature and energy crises we can’t afford to pit clean energy against nature.

We can do far better at delivering energy projects without ripping up crucial habitat protections.

I set out for @politicshome.bsky.social why it’s vital we get this right ✍️

We owe young men far better than the toxic offer the manosphere is selling.

But rather than seeing young men as problems or perpetrators in waiting, progressives need to ensure every young man has the role models they deserve.

I set out for @huffpost.co.uk how we can do better ✍️

Long overdue reforms to SEND provision, must address the real challenges faced by far too many armed forces families looking to access support.

Today I pressed Ministers to ensure they do 👇

As well as my national and local campaigns on everything from expanding GPs to fixing SEND provision, an important part my work is taking up individual issues affecting our community 💪

Here’s some of what we were able to help with over February 👇

Blocking prospective tenants from registering to vote? ❌🤯

We’re taking on this outrageous case locally.

But the exploitative power imbalance it feeds off highlights why Labour’s Renter’s Right Act protections are so needed 🛡️

🩺 Across our area we know a thing or two about pressures on GPs…

The Government is listening, and acting:

✅ Funding an extra 1,600 GPs
✅ Requiring patients same day appointments for urgent cases

Step by step we’re delivering an NHS that’ll be there when we all need it 🏥

Later votes in Parliament this evening, but well worth it to support lifting hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty.

Plenty more to do, but don’t ever let it be said this Labour government isn’t making a difference 🌹

As a teacher, children’s services lead and now an MP, it’s been devastating working with young people and families failed by the broken send system.

There is plenty to scrutinise, but after over a decade of systemic failure today’s reforms are a huge moment to put this right ✅

From working with the @tuc.org.uk’s fantastic UnionLearn to serving as a workplace rep, I’ve seen first hand the transformative impact trade unions can have.

Now as an MP, it’s a privilege to work with them to deliver change for workers right across the country #HeartUnions ❤️

This Valentine’s day I’m joining with Labour colleagues to call time on outdated and inadequate paternity leave entitlements.

Being an equal partner means being an equal parent, and it’s time our parental leave system supported that.

Proud to have been named a Men’s Health Champion by Movember!

For too long stigmas around everything from mental health to prostate cancer have held back men’s health

Looking forward to working with Movember and the Labour Group for Men and Boys to keep championing action!

As an ex-children’s services lead I know the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support fund really matters for those who rely on it.

Last year’s uncertainty caused understandable concern.

Im glad the Government is acting, extending it to 2028 and increasing it by 10% for 26/27.
