I confess I fit that profile. I burn a wood stove on occasion in the winter.

‘Smokeless’ fuels produce more ultrafine particles that get embedded in lungs, study shows The tiny size of the particles means they can become deposited deep in people’s lungs, causing a health risk

I think the first lesson here is that we need to stop burning things, anything, any more than we have to: sologi.co/4by95Lu

John Geddes (@johngeddes28) Canadians have experienced a year of Mark Carney as prime minister, and his performance in the public eye isn’t what many insiders expected. The way that speech at Davos commanded world attention. How...

"Listeners sat up straight when he spoke of a “rupture in the world order,” and clearly he was alluding to Donald Trump’s bizarre behaviour. But he was already talking about the need for a fundamental transition five years earlier..." #cdnpoli

Yesterday was Canada’s #OvershootDay, the date when Earth’s yearly resources would be used up if everyone lived like Canadians.

Our energy use is nearly 3x the global average, and we generate some of the highest waste per person in the world.

Overshoot Day is one date; what we do next matters.

Explo 86 - Ski 2024 L’Explo 86, petit frère de l'Explo original et nouveau modèle chez Ferreol, est le ski parfait pour l’enthousiaste de ski alpin en station qui effectue également de la randonnée alpine.

First new skis I’ve bought since the ’80s. Last time I bought a pair was used at Play It Again in Ottawa (the day the convoy rolled in). This time it’s Ferreol Explo 86s 🇨🇦 from Québec (avec 🇫🇷 Look Pivots), built for the icy Eastern hills we ski here: sologi.co/4rgu8Xu

Half of the US hates the other. Hard to solve any big American problem until they solve that one.

Great to see 🇨🇦 on the right end of this list.

Watch every new social platform, in need of our attention for ads, discover the two critical success factors for social media profits:

1. Friction between users
2. Users need to organize themselves into groups or "tribes".

Which of these are good for society?

Canada's National Observer: Let Milano Cortina be the last Olympics sponsored by fossil fuels As winter athletes who have competed at the highest levels of our sports, we joined more than 140 elite athletes from more than 20 countries in signing an open letter to the International Olympic Committee at the start of the Milano Cortina games. Our position is straightforward: fossil fuel companies shouldn't be sponsoring winter sports.

"This is not a political statement. It is about protecting the future of winter sport itself."

I don't know what NB Health Link is and the information on their website doesn't get me any closer. I can open Maple and initiate care immediately, easily, and that's what I'm talking about when I say usability. A service that people can't or don't want to use is no service.

Holt government drops N.B.-based virtual care company Province replacing eVisitNB with a new service provider based outside Canada

Losing Maple in NB is a big shift. I’m optimistic a new app tied into 811 can work if usability comes first. For those of us years without a family doctor, virtual care has been our only doorway into the system. That door can’t get smaller. #nbpoli #nbhealth

'Minnetoba'? Some Minnesotans want to join Canada as tensions flare with Trump administration | CBC News A former Minnesota governor recently pitched a novel solution to the state’s clashes with the Trump administration: join Canada. He's not the first, nor only, one in the state looking north.

"Instead of Canada becoming the 51st state of America and lose their health care … I'd like to see all of us become Canadians..."

Fredericton in talks with UNB, YMCA about construction of new aquatic centre | CBC News The City of Fredericton says it's in talks with the University of New Brunswick and the YMCA about partnering on the design, construction and operation of a new aquatic centre.

A positive sign for our Fredericton friends. Every Canadian community needs a good swimming facility. The L.B. pool was decades too old when I showed up there in the early 90s and the antiqueness of the pool I was going to train in was a big novelty. Build a pool already, Freddy Beach!
