Imagine the joy tonight if Labor, instead of saying we can't afford to support people with disabilities, said we can't afford $360bn on non existent submarines and we're going to raise tax from gas... #auspol

Not sure why the government chose this way to manage the NDIS - it'll create unnecessary nonsense over the next few years. They should have forced provider registration, with increased compliance and audits last budget. Then used how that played out to get a more accurate cost of growth areas now.
ALP too scared to take on the gas industry that strips billions from our country each year; but not shy about kicking the crutches out from under hundreds of thousands of disabled Australians. So gutsy Albo.
Selective incrementalism
The real problem with the NDIS is the neo-con free market bullshit about how privatisation is always better that was inherent in the design of the scheme. Kicking a bunch of autistic kids won't solve this structural problem.

Ed Husic models what all Labor MPs and Senators should practice, and Anthony Albanese should support:
robust debate on key issues, and courage to speak the truth.
Such a pity that the PM expects his caucus members to be as 'disciplined' [aka spineless] as himself. #auspol

The challenge for cities is not to convince people that cycling is good. It is to make cycling ordinary enough that people can return to it without having to become a “cyclist” first.
Four frames. Angus Taylor and journo. 1. Angus: “We need to decide who we let into this country...” Journo: “We already do, through our immigration process.” 2. A: “Yes, well we need to make sure they respect our values…” J: “They already have to pass a values test.” 3. A: “Well, we need to ensure they don’t breach these values…” J: “We have laws, and consequences for people who break them.” 4. A: “Something something people from Gaza…” J: “It’s hard coming second to Pauline, isn’t it.”
All he’s got.
My @smh cartoon.
Actually tyres and autoelectrical. Regen braking means brakes last a looooooooooooong time.
Larissa Waters asks former Treasury chief Ken Henry if it’s too simplistic to say wartime gas profits from the war on Iran can either go to Australians, or to overseas investors & shareholders.
Henry “That’s not simplistic, that’s how it is!” “It is as simple as that.” 💥 #auspol
Last week I drove from Melbs to Sydney and back in an ID Buzz VW’s EV van. I charged at the Sutton Forest site he mentions, twice. No waiting. Charging to 100% “just to see”. What an idiot. Why pay fast charger prices when you can don’t need it (and what an arsehole when others might be waiting)
I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
Such words of wisdom

“Basic income has been shown to reduce health care costs, including an 8.5% reduction in hospitalizations. As Dr. Danielle Martin [the newly elected Liberal MP in today’s by-election] has so pointedly said, “If we discovered a drug that reduced hospitalizations by 8.5%, we’d put it in the water.”
Today marks 35 years since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody made 339 recommendations to address systemic racism and over-incarceration of First Nations people.
Since then, more than 630 First Nations people have died in custody, including 12 so far in 2026.
Khanna: They’re saying this technology is going to be bigger than nuclear, bigger than electricity, bigger than aviation.
Last I checked, we have an FAA for aviation, nuclear energy is regulated, and electricity is regulated.
I also hate the idea that money = freedom of political discourse when it plainly creates an inequity of political discourse
Before you jump on the “punish the big parties” bandwagon, beware you are promoting the “keep big money in politics” bandwagon.

I’ve reached an age at which, with each unfortunate, unwanted encounter with Clavicular, my first thought is, “Who are this boy’s parents and what is wrong with them?”
honestly i am constantly thinking things like "where are the fathers" these days
Why does this country love the most bland, boring and untalented like Van onselen have so much undue influence ?
I forgot Peter van Onselen existed and it was nice.

For instance - do you know what the Israeli government would prefer you to argue?
"From the River to the Sea"
You know what they don't want you to argue?
"Israel is conducting ethnic cleansing in Gaza and Lebanon so they can steal the land"
Because then there's no culture wars over silly slogans
Butlerian Jihad Now.
He is a bully & standover merchant according to his fellow soldiers, his ex-wife & girlfriends. He forced recruits to perform criminal acts presumably so he could control them. 21 of his SAS comrades have testified against him to the IG so far, despite his attempts to pressure them to remain silent.
