The number of folks who have reported thinking about it while falling asleep is really gratifying
Logged play: Thought about it for a little bit while I was falling asleep. Rotated the iconography in my mind.
Rated 2/10 (in my scale, 1 means I do not like it, 2 means I do like it).
My “play” so far has involved opening the box, checking out the components, and then packing it up while contemplating that I may have bitten off more than I can chew.
I’m impressed with how it’s managed to intimidate me right from the start 😀
For anyone who logs their plays, how do you log City of Six Moons?
the existence of this thread that just popped up really amused me
I really recommend Amabel Holland's channel for a lot of unique discussions of game and story design. I loved this other video about a defunct game company that somehow features the lead actor of Get Smart.
When I started this project, I thought there were nine Pitfall games. I was wrong.
A history of the surprising number of Pitfall games, the people who made them, and the company that kept deciding what the world really wanted was a new Pitfall game.

oh no, it's the Vourdalak!!
when will steve moraff finally be brought to justice?
great video on pitfall, a genre-defining game by one of the first third-party game developers, and the subsequent decades of its strange interactions with an ever-changing games industry. content warning bobby kotick
New Amabel video!
oh god 29 would have absolutely killed me
These kind of deep dives for video games or bgs are important, they are a part of history.Early videogame history has a lot of stuff now difficult to find out and its getting harder and harder to know them. There are tons of videos about Tetris or Zelda, but the less known ones need more coverage
This was a wonderful deep dive. As someone who was obsessed with Pitfall I & II as a kid, I really appreciated learning things I never knew! Like why I was looking for a scaredy cat.
I would do the things I already do & prioritize - cook & keep house, learn about things, experience art, make new friends, enjoy my time with old ones, and slut around. But I would do all of them *more* and without the pressures of having to work, or to worry about money.
RT’ing this again now that I’ve watched it. Amabel’s videos are always a delight (not to mention well-researched and informative) but this one had me cackling. “…because that’s copyright infringement!” had me giggling out loud for far longer than it should have. :D
she was so happy when Tekken 1 King showed up in yesterday's video, and kinda astonished I tracked down a moment from an anime she described to me once
I am not above pandering to this very specific audience
Not a TTRPG, but I did this for the rulebook for Doubt Is Our Product, my asymmetrical board game about tobacco disinformation/activism.
The UMich Regent who allegedly spearhead efforts to prosecute student protestors lost his endorsement to the Lebanese immigrant who represented those students in court.
I also want to extend my gratitude to my voice cast, some of whom were doing a favor for a complete stranger. I deeply appreciate this kindness.

I wouldn't be able to do these kinds of projects without the support of my patreon producers. They're mostly here for board games so I hope they don't mind this detour.

(answering a joke seriously) the two words are unrelated etymologically iirc
"blink" can be traced back to an Old English word "blincan" meaning fire/flash/glisten (think of rapidly blinking eyes as sparkling like stars)
while Old English "wincian" means to make a sign or nod with the eyes
there's an asymmetry of violence where if someone spends billions of dollars changing laws that end up killing me they get invited to galas but if I show up at their house with a brick I go to jail

I just paid off the balance & everything is right again & boy am I gonna give 'em a piece of my mind on Monday
but it is a pretty large & unexpected expense, coming right after paying our taxes, so if you felt like helping refill the coffers a bit, I certainly wouldn't mind

my health insurance quietly instituted username requirements, like for passwords: minimum characters, use at least one numeral
as my existing login didn't meet these, it rendered it invalid(!) & suspended autopay without telling me
only found out bc they've now threatened to cancel for nonpayment
