That's a great idea! Will try this week!

There are going to be serval comments about the Hunter Biden pardon, but one thing is undeniable—Hunter would not have faced criminal charges in Delaware if his last name was not Biden.
An average American does not face those gun charges.
Such a well written statement by President Biden on pardoning Hunter:
“In trying to break Hunter, they ve tried to break me - and there's no reason to believe it will stop here.”
“I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.”
None needed
I've caught a virus from a visiting family member - really feeling this one today
Skinemax as my high school boyfriends called it (ok just kidding that's also what my 55yo husband and I still call it to this day)
No! That's terrible! I don't use those lists after reading a warning about them
A very good boy!
I’m three episodes into the first season of #TheDiplomat and the foreign secretary just GROWLED “the house… is on… fire” and I had to get up and take a lap around my living room because it was just that sexy.
The brilliance of #TheDiplomat season 2 on Netflix was only overshadowed by the inexplicably disappointing # of episodes. Intrigue. Subtlety. Suspense. A near perfect series. The addition of Allison Janney is fantastic. I love shows that keep you pondering the ramifications.
I finally watched and finished #TheDiplomat… and:
- I needed more episodes
- holy cow that finale scene in episode 6
- I needed more Allison Janney allllll the way through.
#TheArchers Leonard is a true Renaissance man and could easily rock up on Josh's bicycle ready to ho-ho-ho
I'm trialing both at the moment.
To those folks who are leaving Goodreads - will it be StoryGraph? Fable? Something else?

I used to teach one of those catch-all, first semester, you- just-started-college type classes that was perfect for building the skills you mentioned. Also research literacy, civil debate, and others. Very fulfilling course to teach - in every way but financially. #EduSky
Consumer spending is at record levels
Travel increased dramatically
There aren't any immigrants pouring over the border
Hell-even JD Vance acknowledged what great shape America is in right now
It's almost as if Biden and Harris did a fantastic job and Trump spent the last year lying about it all
Interesting! There are pros & cons to each so I suppose it makes sense. My parents raised us in the suburbs, an easy train ride into the city - best of both worlds?
#TheArchers we moved to the country as young parents and let our children go full feral - no regrets. (They both choose to live in the big city now, unwilding? 😂)
a thanksgiving table I could appreciate
What a terrifying development. The expectation that institutions will turn out robot workers on a higher ed assembly line is the stuff of dystopian nightmares. The fantastic small liberal arts colleges of Iowa don't fit this model - their graduates are well-rounded critical thinkers, not automatons!
For as long as I live, I will never understand how anyone could have chosen Trump over this.
I left for my dad's bedside straight after the funeral service, & missed at least 2 weeks of work. My boss asked me to sign up for FMLA, my husband was barely holding it together at home...such a bad time. I resigned a few months later & haven't worked fulltime since, changing our finances forever
Boundaries can be so difficult to hold! Good for you for sticking to yours. Deathbed is TOO late, dear ol' Dad!
Exactly!!! Is it some kind of Christian thing with the 10 commandments? Honor thy father and mother? Because people treated me horribly for placing my father in skilled nursing instead of moving him in with my family. "But he's your FATHER!"
My mother has lived in our home for a few years but has her own kitchen. It wouldn't work at all without strong boundaries, and it definitely wouldn't have worked with my dad. You're right not to do it if you have doubts! We also didn't do it til our kids were 13 and 18.
My father wanted to pretend he didn't have a daughter (when I cleared out his home to sell it I found all the framed family photos I had sent over the years hidden face-down in a dresser drawer. He magically remembered me once he needed my help and would call me all day every day while I was at work
I had already seen my grandmother through her final years. My work as an academic librarian was misunderstood and therefore devalued by my entire family, who always assumed I could take time off and provide care for elders, knocking me off the tenure track.
My worst day I was following my stepfather's casket down the church aisle with my mother when I received the call that my father had a major heart attack 2 states away and was in cardiac ICU (and I had 2 children in school, a high-stress fulltime position in higher ed, and a workaholic husband).

When you randomly wake up at 2:20 am and look at your phone to find that one of your adult(ish) children is texting you 🤗 - heartwarming but insomnia-inducing. The exchange was over an hour ago and I'm STILL AWAKE
