The small diesel has been effectively killed off. (Thank you Volkswagen). Diesel was cheap until ULS became mandated around 2003. Diesel are just plan dirty. I should say the fuel used in diesel engines is just plain dirty. It sucks. I love the economy and power but they are not the answer.
