Might do something cool, might fuck up, but I’m finally getting my lazy ass into gear and applying to study electrical engineering for realsies this time. Might be a more productive use of my money than buying a bunch of cameras.

Had an impromptu fire drill at work.

I've seen plenty of shit across multiple jobs, but "sanitation sprayed the fire alarm" is a new one for me.

I need something to actually look forward to, man.

“Why didn’t you just use a 1 inch box up top?”

Stacking a reducer and a union is a bit more than the play budget I have in the horizontal axis. The conduit on the top side though, that has a good 5 inches of free play up and down.

Now as far as the union joints, look, we don’t have equipment to bash out some more hardline conduit with precisely positioned bends inside of a 30 minute dead band. I gotta work with what’s there and since this machine was installed 30 years ago, a lot of stuff needs removed to do it correctly.

Really, that mention up top of a cabinet with DIN rail and contacts, I mean that, it would be the objectively correct way to revise this, but people with different colored hard hats and bigger salaries than mine insist I rebuild this rat bag abortion as it was originally.

This is gonna suck.

We also have no dope, so hopefully the roll and a half of pipe tape I crammed in here will be enough to keep the big chunks of water out.

As far as reductions, I know you can bodge that with heli-coil. We don’t have that readily available. We also don’t have any straight street fittings, just the usual street 90s, so the bell at the top was required.

Here’s another “I don’t get paid enough for this”.

Yes, this is legitimately a thing they wanted rebuilt (instead of revised as it VERY clearly needs to be—cabinet with an DIN rail and some contacts).. I don’t know why, man, I just work here.

I need a day off so I can fix or replace the central air conditioning at home.

Taking a day off will cost me $640 though.

Fucking GoPro is making a Micro Four Thirds camera..

I hope the lack of pins is a prototyping oversight. The specs, on paper, are really ambitious and I may try and get my hands on one for the lulz.

The ammonia training at work changed. Now, you don’t check the wind sock and move away from the ammonia, you go to the designated assembly spot (even if that spot is in the wrong spot relative to the wind).

I didn’t need to get relevant licensing to know this ain’t okay, but I did that so…

Hello, burnout, my old friend…

Performance ain't superior or anything, this won't replace my machine based around a RTX 4090 and i9 14900K, but it gets the job done for something that is (grudgingly) portable.

Attempting to edit video at work on my overpowered Gameboy Advance stand-in.

It's not using any discrete GPU, but allegedly AMD SoC-ified a passable GPU core into their 395 thing that got crammed into the GPD Win 5.

Oops.

Allegedly, its built-in microphone array is pretty good.

I can't help you make your content better, that's actually a you problem (*YOU* are the center point of your content whether you realize it or not), but if you're already there and just need a hand with the visuals, I do outright own three cinema cameras now.

Well, it kicks the pants off my Panasonic camera.. and y’know, for a camera that needs to crop in to pull off UHD60, it has a surprisingly wide lens (it’s usable for selfie video, but I also grew up in the age of camcorders which weren’t known for having wide lenses as stock in the 2000s).

Picked up one of those little "vlog" type cameras that *should* be capable of not sucking. Ain't at the same level as my R5 C, but... well, have you ever tried filming yourself with a camera setup that, minimum, weighs like 8 pounds? It's doable, but you deserve better (this one fits in a pocket).

WELL, now, this is awkward...

Guys, I want to give you my money. Cox internet is dog shit for the money ("now give us another $80 and we'll let you have access to the unreliable hub for more than 1TB"). The lines are there and the neighborhoods on either end of us are already getting hooked up. What's the deal?

"We'll notify you when GFiber is available in your area."

You guys LITERALLY dug up our front yard and ran the lines down the length of the street 10 months ago, I still have videotape. What the hell?

That's actually kind of an unfair classification for me. I mean, yeah, it does feel light and cheap, but the sound is the right shape and flavor and the reed works well enough if it's properly soaked.

Ya know, for a "cheap plastic crap" clarinet and a sub-Rico grade reed, this thing plays REALLY smooth.

I gotta get a contact pickup because off-mic has the clarinet mechanism between notes.

Oh boy, a MySpace-grade selfie?

...yes.

This is the only instrument I can play at all. Weirdly, I can’t draw (I can barely write legibly), but I can make noises I like on this here wood-composite flute. Whatever the case, I BADLY need a creative outlet, or more accurately, I need some means to get the music in my head recorded to tape.

For context, I played this thing for like 10 years starting in middle school, then my local community college assumed ownership of my rosewood one (this happened 10 years ago). Bought a cheap one now because I made my way and got recognized using a $27 clarinet (2006 era dollars).
