'Star Trek' now a Canadian enterprise. What made it so? Olivia Chow has a model starship in her office. It’s the USS Toronto, a Parliament-class vessel slightly bigger than her hand.

Disappointed that this story does not mention that the original "Enterprise" was built in St. Jean sur Richelieu in the 1770s before being stolen and re-christened by the Americans in the Revolutionary War.

In that sense it has *always* been a Canadian Enterprise.

Cutting post-secondary budgets during COVID a bad move Governments keen to balance budgets are cutting post-secondary funding. But this will hurt the economy, innovation and research in the long-term.

Albeit in a different context, @shiribreznitz.bsky.social and I warned about the implications of higher education funding gaps a few years ago.

Opinion: How not to run a country: Government ineptitude and Canada’s economic malaise Canada’s economic problems stem from a government that fails in basic operation capabilities, lacks the ability to think and is devoid of strategic leadership

In a better world, an opposition party would use Dan Breznitz’s brilliant, incisive essay in today’s Globe as their roadmap for comprehensive public-sector reform. Clear and correct on the problems and solutions. Essential reading for all Canadians.
