(3/4) When I read short story collections, I write my little recaps and notes as I go. When I was loading my notes for this blog post, I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw that I said “Oh my gosh” in my notes for EVERY SINGLE STORY. I edited to remove many of them, but a lot of them remain.

(2/3) Dark witchy tales at their finest! My goodness, so many of these stories have really tricky content, and each is shocking in its own way.

Who doesn’t like a story about witches?! So many of us grew up hearing tales that had an evil old witch in them. Hags and Witches by @kevinjkennedy.bsky.social is a collection that takes this up to a whole new level of darkness.

(2/3) My gosh, the pacing of this is intense! I loved that we started with a bang, moved into frustration, and then stepped back into the mystery side of things. Each of these flowed so seamlessly into the next.
Murder Road by Simone St. James is a tense, suspenseful tale of a couple who find themselves in the middle of a very troubling situation.

Horror fans who love fast-paced rides through absolutely horrific situations, you’re going to love this! Just please note the content warnings from Nat before proceeding with the read if you need them.
When the Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy is a tale that is raw, brutal, and haunting. I dove into this one knowing absolutely nothing about it, and I can easily say it’s a story that will forever stick with readers.

(2/3) Mr. Kevin J. Kennedy is solely responsible for my obsession with carnival horror. When I got word that this was a project in the works, I couldn’t wait! This was such a wild and horrific read that brought three quick snippets of dark and grief-filled terror to play.

What’s more terrifying than a child insisting there’s something in her closet? The moment you realize it’s real and that it’s no longer in the closet…

(2/3) My gosh, this is such an interesting premise! On the surface, it’s a haunted-house horror, but underneath, there’s so much psychological tension and general family drama. The unfazed narrator was the most unsettling element of all for me!
The September House by Carissa Orlando is a tale of a house crawling with secrets, broken people, and something in the basement that is determined to be set free.
