My strategy is to have one place that links them together. So I have an Evernote system and I keep the links to the different systems together and in the right context. I've finally accepted that there will not be one system that does all the things!

New paper alert: STUDENT VOICES: NON-COMPLETING COLLEGE STUDENTS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF A SENSE OF PURPOSE TO SUPPORT COLLEGE PERSISTENCE

Just finished Abundance by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson and I found it to be a quite compelling escape from our current reality. Makes me want to send it to all of my local politician friends.
Who else has read it and wants to discuss?

First week truly commiting to the productivity approach of Carl Pullein, and I'm quite pleased. Still a lot of tweaking to do, but creating a single "must do" yesterday, and then committing to doing it first today, is great for increased focus and reduced overwhelm. open.spotify.com/episode/0XS4...
Lots of new folks are coming onto this platform this week. Welcome! I use this account like I used to use Twitter (mostly professional with an occasional personal but public post), rather than the more personal stuff on Facebook and Insta. That said, I'm pretty rusty at it!
This is a reminder that the job posting for the Director of Academic Advising job will close on Friday. See below.
Thank you #AlaskaSky! Taking copious notes. Keep them coming!
Wow that sounds incredible!
Flying up. Then will rent cars or fly as needed. This sounds close to what we're thinking! Thanks so much!
Family of four (2 older teens) going in late June for two weeks. This is dream grad trip for my son who loves to fish: all modes. We're from Washington State, so he can fly fish, deep sea, etc. Want some hikes but not the most hard-core. Planning to def hit Denali and Kenai, but otherwise open.
We're planning to go late June. Definitely want to go to Denali and Kenai. This is a graduation trip for my son, who is an avid fisherman from Washington state.
Black and white, line-drawing style comic from artist "Interviews with Invertebrates." Includes different types of invertebrate larvae dreaming of becoming their adult version with the caption: "New Year, New You! Local invertebrates discuss their goals for the new year."
Wishing everyone a wonderful new year with this older but still amazing comic. (I don't see @IWIcomics on Bluesky, but happy to credit them!)
We just rewatched it on Xmas eve. You might have been able to see it from your house, given the position of our window and tv!
Are you an experienced Academic Advising leader? Consider applying for our new Director of Academic Advising role at UW Tacoma. (And we'd get to work together!)

A survey of undergrads reveals they are highly concerned about climate change impacts (eg on food systems) & optimistic about solutions. While students show varying knowledge on drivers and mitigation, those informed on one topic (eg GMOs) often excel in others. journals.plos.org/sustainabili...
I shared about our work to democratize data at UW Tacoma through the Student Success Data Parties we've been hosting, and how the playbook could be used by practitioners.
