Originally a litterary publication (Sartre, Malraux, etc.) it started to feed the Gallimard Collection Blanche which might be the most prestigious collection in french publishing history along with the Pleïade (but they only go for classics)

very surprising cause that white cover is usually for the Nouvelle Revue Française (NRF see the bottom), a specific collection. That said checking their site doesnt give anything so it might indeed be how they presented your proof copy ?
