Electric buses are successfully operating in N Europe, near the Arctic Circle, in Sweden & Norway, with enhanced thermal insulation and battery heating systems. While winter reduces battery range, proper infra planning & thermal management do allow for reliable operation, even in extreme conditions.

More than half of all new EU buses are electric. At this rate, Europe's 2035 target of 100% zero emission bus sales could be reached as early as 2028. www.linkedin.com/posts/gavinm...

The Project — Coire Glas

Proposed UK Coire Glas pumped storage scheme is like a backup wind/solar generator: which will buy up all the excess wind/solar energy nobody was going to buy or use, and release that same wind/solar energy when it is needed, slowly, at 1.3 GWh per hour.

A vital system of Atlantic Ocean currents is weakening and closer to collapse than thought, new studies find | CNN New research provides alarming evidence this ocean circulation is slowing and could be heading toward a shutdown, which would have catastrophic impacts on the planet’s weather and climate.

New study: most climate models underestimate the decline of the Atlantic overturning circulation #AMOC. The AMOC is on course to slow by more than 50% by the end of the century. 🌊
Very likely the AMOC will then be past the tipping point for full shutdown. 😨

A HUGE, narrative-breaking moment for the UK car market

New EVs are now cheaper than petrol cars on average, says Autotrader

Last yr CCC said price parity was due by 2028 – and it's already here

And EVs are already MUCH cheaper to run than petrol

In answer to the people who ask what we will do for energy when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine, that's only 2% of days. If we have a 98% decarbonised power grid, we're doing pretty well. www.linkedin.com/posts/gavinm...

I agree. We can just look at risk and calculate outcome probabilities. This one has some serious potential impacts so even low risks are a worry for me.

Key ocean current is slowing at locations around the Atlantic Measurements by buoys at four latitudes in the western Atlantic provide the strongest evidence yet that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation is weakening

Big worry. There is this very coherent picture of deep western Atlantic overturning weakening for all different kinds of latitudes in the AMOC system consistent with slowing models. www.newscientist.com/article/2522...
