It's unreal how completely unusable Facebook has become. The only thing that keeps me there are some of my local community groups, but the timeline is otherwise useless.

If you're an REI member, you can vote to toss out the board that's endorsed Trump's candidate for Dept. of Interior and has worked to stop REI unions. Vote runs until May 2nd. Spread the word. vote.escvote.com/REI/

It was the only way he wasn't going to prison for what remains of his life. Better to be a dictator than an inmate.

If an employer suggests their employees can side-hustle to make ends meet, we'd recommend you side-hustle all your coworkers together in a room to talk about organizing! πŸ’ͺ

Yet my β€” and I'd imagine your β€” frustration isn't borne of a hatred of technology, or a dislike of the internet, or a lack of appreciation of what it can do, but the sense that all of this was once better, and that these companies have turned impeding our use of the computer into an incredibly profitable business.
So much of the pushback I get in my work β€” and the pushback l've seen toward others β€” is that I "hate" technology, when l'd like argue that my profound disgust is borne of a great love of technology, and a deep awareness of the positive effects it's had on my life. I do not turn on my computer every day wanting to be annoyed, and I don't imagine any of you do either. We re not logging onto Whatever social networks we're on because we are ready to be pissed off. If anything, we'd love to be delighted by the people we chose to connect with and the content we consume, and want to simply go about our business without a litany of microaggressions created by growth-desperation and a lack of responsibility toward the user.

We don't "use" the computer, we negotiate with it to try and make it do the things we want, as the incentives of modern software development no longer align with users user. Our frustration isn't hate - it's outrage, as something was taken from us.

Dude, all of my worst movie going experiences have been since COVID. It's like society completely forgot how to behave in a theater. It's one reason why I only go at off hours, either matinee during the week or like, 10pm on a Sunday.
