In contrast, time spent on one's phone was not significantly related to mental health. Therefore, transition patterns across different technology activities may have clinical relevance beyond time spent or specific activities engaged with.

Additionally, Apps which users report using more automatically are more central in App-journey networks.

Features of these networks describe transition patterns across Apps, abstracting away from which specific Apps are used. These network features relate to user mental health: users with better mental health have higher modularity and lower density, suggesting they journey less randomly across Apps.

We developed a novel network analysis method to investigate this. 'App-journey networks' quantify the patterns by which users transition across Apps in a phone use session, directly from real-world phone use data.

💡Does anyone have any good go-to introductory readings / materials for network analysis? e.g. introducing definitions of nodes / edges / global and local graph properties, etc? 💭

Thank you 😊 we wanted to argue that regulation increases the overall freedom of the research community to progress scientific knowledge using transparent evidence. As you point out, it also limits certain research practices (e.g. publishing in nontransparent ways), which is no bad thing

In the 2020 Election Project, Meta collaborated w/ academics to study how FB impacts elections.

🚨Friends, we’re happy to share that our book is available for pre-order! 🎉
We aimed to cover all the foundations of the topic in an accessible manner for a large audience.
It could help set up a bachelor-level curriculum on the topic.
Pre-orders are very key for the fate of books: shorturl.at/Dxbif
