The thing about library board meetings is that they are always stimulating, populated by smart, engaged community members, and it feels like meaningful work in ways that matter in this age of disinformation. Also, there are always tasty treats!

This is him with his beloved ‘66 Chevelle. Around when he met my mother, too.

Newspaper article. The Windsor Star, July 21, 1966. Driver angry, not careless, court rules
CHATHAM - A young driver became angry when a policeman told him he would be charged with a traffic offence and sped off, leaving 172-foot-long skidmarks, magistrate's court was told Wednesday
After hearing evidence, Magistrate F.K. Jasperson, QC, remarked: "I think he is guilty of angry driving, but I have some doubt whether he falls into the category of care less driving."
Magistrate Jasperson dismissed the charge of careless driving against Gregory Francis Brady, 23, of Elm Ave., Chatham.
Constable Eric Johnson said he had been attracted by the screeching of Bady's car tires on Third St., Chatham, and stopped the car.
"I told Brady he would be charged with making unnecessary noise and he became angry end argumentative."

Found this after my father passed. It so perfectly captures my father's spirit that it’s shocking.

“Rhythm” is an absolutely ridiculous word to spell correctly and should apologize to all of us for being so tricky.

If you’re a Hachette author you should be talking to your editors and teams about this. If they’re using AI to counter AI, it’s still AI. And it may also be giving your work to the machine, serving it up on a contractual platter.

On March 19th Hachette Book Group made headlines for terminating a book contract with author Mia Ballard over her alleged use of AI in her novel Shy Girl; meanwhile, Hachette has negotiated with the AI editing software company Alighieria to integrate full-scope AI editorial correction tools into their production process.

Canada Post appears to be breaking space-time laws these days. I sent my niece a book and it arrived less than 24 hours later.

What is this — an efficient crown corporation?!

Have you considered that the AI-takeover is here and it's just breaking all our digital tools so that we will be free?

Cleaning my dad’s room I found his church envelopes ready for the next few weeks. While I love Pope Leo, I don’t love the sexist Catholic Church so I handed out 20s to buskers. It was super fun.

The funeral home urged us to add a charity to the obit and, honestly we struggled to think of one that was meaningful to my father.

Then one of my lovely friends donated to my library in his name. And after I cried a little, I see the brilliance of this move.
