The Greens have just beaten both Reform & Labour in a key UK by-election!

With a bold vision of standing up for everyday working people and making billionaires & big corporations pay their share, the Greens can take on the big corporations and their right-wing cronies & win! 💚

Home to 28 million people, Shanghai is the world’s third-largest city—and nowhere captures its shift from industrial hub to modern metropolis better than the East Bank of the Huangpu River. At the centre of this waterfront revival is a 21-kilometre linear park anchored by a continuous cycling route.

Legislation allowing congestion charging passes third reading in Parliament The Bill establishes a framework permitting local authorities to set up a congestion charging scheme, by notifying NZTA.

New Zealand's transport minister knows that congestion pricing's popularity always rises:

"[Once] benefits start to flow in terms of smoother journey times, reduced traffic at peak times, smog goes down, safety improves, people go 'this is fantastic,' and immediately public opinion turns around."

Please read this. The Victorian Department of Transport and Planning and the City of Melbourne must do better. These collisions are avoidable but the infrastructure that protects cyclists needs to be built.

Why Are So Many Pedestrians Killed by Cars in the US? It’s unfortunately not uncommon for pedestrians to be killed by cars in the US.

Deep dive into the surge in US pedestrian deaths:

"It’s not that more pedestrians are getting hit by vehicles; it’s that the ones that are getting hit are more likely to die."

"[That] seems like fairly strong evidence for the theory that the rise in large SUVs is behind the uptick in ped deaths."

Demand Labor approve safe bike lanes on Macaulay Road - Ellen Sandell MP Another young cyclist has been tragically killed on Macaulay Road in Kensington. Sign the petition to demand the Victorian Labor Government approve the plan for separated bike lanes on Macaulay Road.

The bike lanes are designed and funded. But the state government hasn’t approved them.

Why? No one knows.

But they need to approve them. Now.

Calling all data people! Pls help! 📈📊

AustRoads released their star ratings for road design last week. But some roads that have a high star rating for design for vehicle occupants have really terrible “fatal and serious injury” stats.

I want to know how often these depart, and where.

Nearly 900 fewer people injured since 20mph introduction in Wales Figures show a 25% reduction in the number of injuries on Wales' roads in the past 18 months.

Almost 900 fewer people have been injured on Welsh roads since the default speed limit was lowered from 30 to 20mph two years ago

Casualties on 20 to 30mph roads between July and September 2024 were the lowest for the three month-period since records began in 1979

I’m a massive advocate for 30km/hr speed limits… and today was a big day 🥹

I’ve been working for ages to make it easier for councils to implement this life saving speed limit.

And today, the Department of Transport and Planning’s Speed Zoning Policy was updated to allow councils this choice! 💚

The intersection of Swan and Lennox is bustling - full bars, live music, great restaurants!

But it’s a tricky spot to navigate by bike. We’ve proposed some changes that would make it simpler.

Richmond bike lanes to shrink after controversial parking plan approved Five years after removing car parks to install protected bike lanes, Yarra council has voted to downgrade the lanes and reintroduce parking.

For those following Yarra’s bike lane narrowing saga: concept plans for narrowed lanes approved 😭😭 (despite safety audit painting a pretty grim picture!)

Now over to the state government to approve… (after another $200k is spent on detailed designs for less safe lanes 🙃)
