Too soon for the C-word? Okay, I know, it’s waaaaaaaay too early, but bear with me, because this is one Christmas line-up you don’t want to miss. Leave it to everyone else to debate the correct ratio of sherry to trifle, and try to remember what they bought Aunt Marge last year; we’re too busy tripping over bodies in the snow, worrying at the dark shapes at the window, and investigating the odd sounds coming from the attic… Yes, it’s publication day and I am thrilled to announce that Death Comes at Christmas — the festive crime and mystery anthology I contributed to — is out today in…

The Day of the Roaring – A conversation with Nina Bhadreshwar Every so often, interviewing an author feels less like work and more like being invited into someone's creative living room. That's how I felt when I got the opportunity to sit down in front of an audience and quiz Nina Bhadreshwar about her debut novel The Day of the Roaring at Waterstones last week. Beforehand, I'd been curious (maybe a little apprehensive) about how the conversation would flow — her book deals with some very weighty themes, after all, and I worried it might not lend itself to the easiest of anecdotes.

Back at the Coal Face Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com My journey to becoming a published author started, very simply, with a love for books. My mum would take me to the library every Saturday and I would borrow as many books as I was allowed. Somehow though, I always managed to run out of reading material before the next week came around. So it probably wasn't a surpise to anyone when I began my bookselling career with a Saturday job working for a specialist transport and military bookshop in London.

Overcoming Writer’s Block: 6 Proven Strategies Writing is hard, there's no two ways about it. One day you decide, 'Hey, I think I'm going to write a novel,' and off you go, perhaps with a detailed plan of attack, perhaps just winging it. Either way, there comes a point (Well, one if you're extremely lucky but probably more like, several!) when you inexplicably grind to a halt.
