man o'sphere would be a great name for an irish drag king
Frank Herbert I apologize for ever doubting you
Besides energy policy, yes
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment
Seems to me that the Labour leadership's fundamental issue with Mandelson, and by extension a lot of other things, is that they are basically cosplaying hard-nosed politics. They have a sense that they are supposed to be ruthless but don't understand why, or what it's meant to achieve
Girls gone wild 😜.

genuinely think that "it's now very easy to see how rich people live every single day of your life by just being on your phone" feels so boring as an answer to the below that no one really wants to acknowledge it but also: what if that's just what it is
Maybe I’ll write about the Affordability Discourse one day but I think that one thing (among many both material and perceptual) that this hard to untangle is that everyone—including those who are doing fine in material terms—has a lot more visibility into how well the rich are doing than in the past
I actually haven't! I'm definitely planning on checking it out now though
Every episode has at least one moment that makes me properly belly laugh, and it's also far more touching and gentle than I was expecting. A really delightful discovery
MattGPT is the absolutely clear victorious moniker. Even writers for the Spectator instantly recognised its potency
Important caveat: Orban's defeat was so overwhelming it made contesting the result all but impossible. If defeat had been marginal I'm less convinced Orban would have conceded as quickly and gracefully as he did. It's why voting in large numbers matters.
I spent 16, SIXTEEN years fighting this crap.
I can’t believe it 😭
Tonight I'm thinking of the many Hungarians I've met over the years - many of them abroad against their wishes, many of them queer - who haven't stopped fighting, for sixteen years. For most of us, Orbán was an on-and-off nuisance on TV - at best. For them, he was a constant nightmare.
Again my thesis is the great divide in politics is being driven by positive emotions and negative ones, and the coalition of the loving needs to win .
Basically my religion
We're calling Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz the Ayatollbooth, tell your friends
Rome, visit the Castle of St Angelo, aka The Pope's Bond Villain Lair, featuring his secret stash of stuff and an insane view of St Peter's Square.
For Siena the obvious and correct thing to do is to check out the Torre del Mangia, but probably avoid eating in the square, it's crazy busy
Can confirm, it's been the default for most of my career and it's pretty fantastic
People say ‘oh we just replaced one Ayatollah with his son that’s not really regime change’ but actually it looks like we probably replaced a semi-constitutional theocracy with a military junta + religious figurehead
I see the Greens are rightly condemning the British government for the heinous crime of not wanting its personnel and assets to be shot
The Lounge Lizard Of News
was that Melania speech one of Iran’s demands
I had also missed it and also think it's excellent
