they were like "it's so hard to be a man" and now the draft is back. could have sat your ass down and watched girl ghostbusters but no this is where we ended up
and the soundtrack was a worthy installment in a pantheon of great 90's soundtracks; if this CD was in yr car, you were good people.
Katie Baker wrote a great retrospective of this recently for The Ringer that is great: www.theringer.com/2025/11/24/m...
I once had a roommate who watched it every night for a year.
one time I got a flat tire and the nearest Sears auto center was in Eden Prairie Mall, where it was shot. I took pics of the elevator, escalator and fountain with a disposable camera, but the pics disappeared somewhere in all the moves.
30 yrs ago Mallrats came out on VHS. it bombed in theaters, so it's safe to say that the home video release is the proper launch to observe. that's how it found its people.
got to give Dan Levy a Twin Bing, the weird candy bar from my home town.
we saw a preview of his new show Big Mistakes, which is fun as hell. Levy gave an inspired Q&A about creative block, putting on a play of Clue in high school and working with Peaches.
I used to sneak burritos into the dollar theater in Pasadena after grad school
took a pic of Richard Hell w/ my horrible children’s printout camera but he signed it like a gent
Wow, almost like the alt right are an extremely small extremely loud minority that was funded, manipulated, and amplified by extremists from the ruling class.

I first used the name Comixace in 1993.
Little Village let me interview the ebullient Dante Powell as the cover story for their Spring Arts Issue!
I've done comedy shows w/ DP since 2017; when we brought out Sarah Sherman (SNL) for her first show in Iowa, Dante headlined. He’s the best.
love this show
This guy gets it.
Sue had the best moment in the Civil War comics, imho. She just came out of left field and let them go bc she knew that she could. They tried to kinda sorta do that moment with Black Widow in the movie but it doesn’t land the same at all.
I just wanna make the rounds with Nazgûl the Olympic dog in Hollywood for a couple of months.
score some Purina endorsements, get free prosciutto everywhere, have a dark party drug phase where we hit rock bottom.
RIP Bobby Duvall
*I could not find my Lonesome Dove tape and am still vexed by this

To be fair, teachers could still write off that kind of equipment on their taxes in those days
I had the honor of co-writing the Wet Hot American Summer RPG w/ Geoffrey and his new game is even better.
Proud of GG for this one. Check this out!
taxi driver turned 50 yesterday.
this was the first film I saw in a theater after covid lockdown was lifted. got a last minute ticket from my pal mike at new beverly and it did the trick.
the stories about how this got made are nuts. I don’t put this thing on much but am glad when I do.
I interviewed Tom Arnold for @littlevillage.bsky.social 🌽
2/2: and 24 Hour Party People is streaming on Prime and it’s got a ton of “oh, that guy” BBC 4 folks circa 2004. You don’t have to like rave culture or the Happy Mondays to enjoy it. it’s a wonderful piss take on the Manchester music scene of the 80’s. dorky and dry and wonderful.
1/2: hey weirdos Secret Mall Apartment is now streaming on Netflix. it’s my favorie doc of the last 5 yrs and is weirdly moving and fun.
Catherine O’Hara was the best. 🍁
I should own more of her stuff, but had to sell my SCTV box sets a couple moves ago. What a life to celebrate.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

So very very sorry for your loss. VERY moved and inspired by reading this, with a renewed appreciation of every blessing we have, have had, and will have. Thank you for sharing and celebrating this facet of our beloved storytelling art form.
I’m honored that you like it, Mike. I had two letters published in Madman during the early Dark Horse run. Thanks for being there for all of it.
