I suppose you are correct. But I think the book exists because of the success of the music podcast. I have a hard time keeping up with podcasts; have you had a chance to interview Rob? That would be you doing a podcast about a book about music that exists because of a podcast about music!

Apparently the great James “Blood” Ulmer is having some issues at the moment according to a FB post by Grant Weston.
“Amin and I took a drive up to New York to see James Blood today he’s talking well feeling good and so so happy to see us and we’re very blessed to be able to be by his side Amen.”

Again: for any big liberal donor who wants to funnel millions into fixing this country's politics, the ROI on buying any struggling paper and simply tasking it with doing real reporting on local news is vastly higher than the same $$ given to some group that does mass ad buys every election year.

‘It has your name on it, but I don’t think it’s you’: how AI is impersonating musicians on Spotify Fraudulent music streams have long been a scourge for the industry, but experts say generative AI has supercharged it

I’m ashamed to admit that I haven’t heard the Horace Silver version of Lonely Woman (I’ve only heard the Metheny cover). Btw, Billy Higgins sizzle cymbal on the Metheny version is the best cymbal sound on record, IMO.

They play Horace Silver’s achingly beautiful composition. But it’s kind of a weird choice, since Ornette recorded an iconic, completely different song also called Lonely Woman. And Charlie and Billy played on it. Charlie would continue to play it w/ Ornette, and Geri Allen, and Old and New Dreams…

Pat Metheny recorded a trio album with Charlie Haden and Billy Higgins, two musicians that recorded Ornette’s Shape of Jazz to Come. It is called Rejoicing, and it’s a great album. But there is one thing that’s confounded me. The song “Lonely Woman.”

To be fair, I’m a I-head, II-head, III-head, and a IV-head!

Happy 86th birthday to Herbie Hancock. What a gift that he's still out here doing it. "Flood" (1975) is one of his greatest records & incudes the best "Actual Proof" ever. The transition into it from "Maiden Voyage" at 7:20 is one of my favorite moments in music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNGl...

“Wisco” jerseys are 100% cursed. Brewers will never win a game with these atrocities on.

Absolutely correct. I can’t help but feel like Bucks/NBA has “jumped the shark.” I used to love basketball, but it’s just so hard to care about it these days.
