Dansby Swanson's home run was the hardest-hit ball of his career.

I don't know if there are numbers to back it up but Michael Busch looks far more comfortable at 1B this year. He isn't ranging too far to his right anymore. He's digging bad throws out more consistently to help his fellow IFers.

Yes. Please let this be the start of Busch and Bregman getting right at the plate.

Noone seemed interested in actually investigating it.

Nearly everyone used their biases (mostly racist and conformist) drive a narrative of why it happened and who/what was to blame.

And that's really what it seemed to boil down to...
A blame game
For ratings

And the coverage of it was shockingly bad

It was truly around the clock
For weeks

Every type of student and type of pop culture was eventually blamed at some point

Graphic video games/music/movies were most frequently targeted

Meanwhile the news unironically covered Columbine like a video game

Columbine became a turning point

There had been prior school shootings (small scale iirc). The incident at my school where a student held a class hostage ended without bloodshed because another student snatched the shotgun away

But Columbine was kinda the first in the full 24 news and internet era

I was a senior in HS at a school that had a student take a class hostage ~9 yr prior. A couple teachers had PTSD/panic attacks.

After, we could no longer:
Wear coats
Use book bags
Leave for lunch

Mental health was never discussed

Students (especially non-conformers) were treated purely as threats

Having visited NYC for the first time just a few weeks ago, I noticed the trash bag thing and was surprised by it. I couldn't remember seeing it in any other US city in the last 30 years.

The Cubs lost 4-3 in 11 innings to the Pirates last Saturday, going 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position that day. After the loss, manager Craig Counsell said of the offense: "It'll turn."

In the next five games, the Cubs hit .353 (24-for-68) with RISP and scored 47 runs.

Cubs are over.500 (10-9).
Hopefully to stay, despite the injuries.

I'm old enough to have grown up hating the Mets more than the Cards. Mets hate never dies.
