We include that info in our entries so SciX/ADS can link the s/w with research papers that describe or use the code. The links have the bibcode(s) for the articles(s) embedded in them, making it easy for SciX/ADS to create those links. Those associations show up on SciX/ADS as "Related Materials."
... is, or should be considered, a 1st-order research object, just as an article is, and that those who write the computational methods that enable research get credit for these contributions to the field.
We list "preferred citation" on our records when we can find that information. It would be super helpful if every code repo included information on how the software should be cited!
BTW, best practice is to cite both the article and the software. For years, we've advocated that software...
These two artifacts of research are not the same. ASCL records show as doctype:software in SciX/ADS, not as doctype:article, as is typical for an article.

Title slide for the presentation. The title reads, "Using the Astrophysics Source Code Library for Education and Research Credit." The authors are Alice Allen, aallen@ascl.net, University of Maryland College Park, USA and Robert Nemiroff, nemiroff@mtu.edu, Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI USA.
The ASCL was presented recently at the African Astronomical Society (AfAS) annual meeting; read about it here:

Have you tried Galileo Galilei? It’s by the same designer as SETI and I think it’s an even better game

This board game is amazing!
It's super complicated and VERY true to the science. Every astrobiologist board game geek should get a copy! I'm SO impressed at the research behind this game.
I would LOVE to review this game! Anyone know how/where I could do that?
