Yeah, as a pasty white guy who will turn Ferrari red after five minutes in full sun, I don't wear shorts, and rarely wear short sleeves, but women are more likely to wear dresses etc. So it's typically more of a problem for her than it would be for me

So yours is an earlier e-tron?
I'm not completely sure, but yes, I think it was missing the curse of the two switch window controls on the door. At least, I didn't spot anything silly like that.
The missus isn't a big fan of I-pedal, so lacking that function is probably not an issue for her.
Lol! Ve haf vays off making you drive 😁
The one I tested had seat and steering wheel heat, but the seat material had no perforations or cooling. Maybe we need to find one with cooled seats (though that doesn't help with the initial heat when you get into the car late in the day).
One thing I found weird is that the flappy paddles to increase regen only seemed to work for that particular slow down cycle, and then the Regen would be gone again next time. Is there a way to keep the regen on?
No one pedal driving, unfortunately.
...The black leather interior is probably not the best choice for an NC summer. Do you know if they sold any with fabric seats?
The colour of the one I tested is what I would call "redneck grey", i.e. it looks like glossy grey primer.
Apart from the black leather seating, it may be a good choice.
I tested a 2024 Q4 today. The steering wheel buttons are ok. A positive click is required to actuate them, so I don't think I'd be accidentally turning stuff on.
The interior doesn't look as hi tech as some more recent EVs, but that probably suits my missus. ....
Yeah, but the infotainment system is probably one of the bits that Honda doesn't share with GM. The software is reportedly different.
Unfortunately, they're replacing it next year with a vehicle that has the same name, but a Honda drive train. That leaves the spares situation on the present model in the hands of Chevy, hence I'd expect spares to be difficult to obtain much sooner than desirable
So stop building crap EVs and start actually competing, then. Plenty of European manufacturers are managing it.
All VW and Audi models are out because of their appalling haptic steering wheel controls. Headrests are bad on the Hyundai and Genesis EVs. Chevy are out because of their attitude to Android Auto / Carplay. The Honda is a rebadged Chevy. Nissan's offerings are weak. Ford because of poor quality.
The main problem with EVs in the US is that the choice of vehicles is so limited compared to Europe. We're looking for one to replace my Missus' Camry hybrid, and there are very few good options.
The Kia EV6 and the Volvo C40/EX40 are probably front runners (used, of course).
I live near the first one in Apex, NC. I tested my NACS to CCS adapter there to avoid having to go to the Nazis at Tesla.
Just look at all free those things we miss out on by fueling up our EVs from the sun, or the local free chargers. 😁
The equivalent loses for a BEV are transmission line losses (about 3%) and charger losses (3-5%).
BTW, I don't have a hydrogen station at my house. I do, though, have a BEV charger that is powered by the sun hitting the solar panels on the roof.
Please qualntify the following efficiency losses
(1) Electricity to hydrogen
(2) Compression for transportation
(3) Transport
(4) Transfer to station tank
(5) Transfer to car
(6) Conversion from hydrogen to electricity
(7) Daily storage losses
All these are extra steps compared to BEVs.
My scam charges from the solar panels on the roof for $0, or from the free charger in the parking lot of the local pool, or the free solar charger in the parking lot of a park on the Raleigh Greenway system.
They're probably still too dumb to realise that they screwed themselves by their vote.
The price of the sunlight powering the solar panels that I charge my car from at home (or the free charger at the local swimming pool i use) remains unchanged.
According to the AAA, the national average price of regular gas is up 31.5% from a month ago and is now $3.84 per gallon. Diesel is up 27.4% and now stands at $5.06 per gallon. So all those redneck prick-up truck drivers with single digit mpgs who mostly voted for trump are now hurting the most.
Yep. You're an arse. Bye
Perhaps _you_ should chill and and understand that being a sarky SOB is unpleasant?
I'm seeing £2000 as the average house price in 1956 according to this link
www.propertyinvestmentproject.co.uk/property-sta...
Though for context, average UK salary in 1956 was £1000.
In 1989, my starting salary as a degree qualified electrical engineer was £10,650.
Average salary today is £38352 according to a quick Google search.
House prices as a percentage of salary today are much higher than in 1956.
I wish that payback was true in the USA. Solar installs are about 3x more expensive in the USA than in Australia. I'm assuming NZ pricing is closer to Oz than US levels?
Two words.
Hydrogen Embrittlement.
BTW most hydrogen comes from fossil fuel. If it does come from renewable sources, it's about 1/4 the efficiency of using it in a BEV.
My 'golf cart' isn't from Chevy, but I bought it lightly used for a similar price to a new bolt. It has 400bhp, AWD, and was cheaper used than the same vehicle and age in ICE form that had far lower performance.
Oh, and it also costs less to run and has virtually no maintenance cost.
I doubt it. There are already far better and cheaper alternatives available that don't come with US political baggage on the other side of the Atlantic.
Unfortunately, none of these will make it to us shores.
Maybe if it wasn't pre hobbled as a very short production run model, and had apple car play and android audio connectivity, and we could trust the company to not cripple the features later by putting them behind subscription walls, more people would want to buy one.
Getting some free solar EV juice, correct of Raleigh Parks and Rec.
