Virginia school district enlists Scholastic book fair alternative Very little is known about the Texas-based SkyTree, but the group is touting the Dec. 2 event in Spotsylvania as its first public school book fair win.

A new book fair option is gaining momentum... be warned.

I will never recover from this student email.

75 more books to be removed from Hanover County school libraries “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Wicked” are among 75 more books that Hanover County school principals have been ordered to remove from libraries.

Just utterly disappointed.

Increasingly convinced the core divide in humanity is between those who suffer a traumatic, destabilizing event (as we all do) and believe everybody else should have to, too, and those who suffer such an event and hope they are the last person ever to do so.

Opinion | How the ‘sex act’ has become a potent weapon for book banners in Iowa The book-banning mania takes another absurd turn.

"Just as critics predicted, all this vagueness and uncertainty is actively encouraging local education officials to sweep ever more broadly, undertaking more and more book removals in a kind of ever-expanding vortex. In this, one might argue, those laws are functioning exactly as intended."

The attacks on books and on the freedom to learn are calculated to render our histories, our communities, and our families invisible. Through book challenges and bans, the far right is attempting to erase LGBTQ+ people and people of color—and we will not let them succeed.

Please… I’ve cleaned up pee, blood, puke, dead animals. I’ve seen fist fights, custody disputes, attempted kidnappings. Syringes in the bathroom, a cleaver wielding manic, a regular patron arrested for murder.

We see all the stuff in this “list” before we eat lunch for the day.

Hollywood Writers Strike: Screenwriters Reach Tentative Deal With Studios to End Strike The Writers Guild of America got most of what it wanted. With actors still on picket lines, however, much of Hollywood will remain shut down.

Excellent news. I'm looking forward to seeing (and voting on) the deal.

Children's book banned for some CMS students after parent complaints A children's book titled "Red: A Crayon’s Story" is no longer allowed for kids in grades K-4. It comes after complaints challenged under the Parent's Bill of Rights.

I’ve always try to sound the alarm about book bans and how extreme it will become. This is utterly ridiculous and I am utterly unsurprised. We are in a very dangerous time.
