Lack of reading comprehension is, unfortunately, bipartisan

People are fixating on the beef. I don't like beef, I'd like to see all animal agriculture disapear. But Laura ain't actually talking about beef.
Yeah I've finally decided to block him, I don't mind that he has silly takes sometimes but the reaction to criticizing his takes is so off-the-charts annoying that I'm just not gonna deal with it anymore
This is going to keep happening with more stuff
And every time, the Stancils of the world will pretend like these once-staples but now-luxuries have always been luxuries, and admonish the "vibecession treatlers" or whatever garbage buzzwords for their perceived privilege
That's not what this thread is about. Learn to read
I hope you realize that you should learn basic reading comprehension

No tension: wealth inequality is the issue
"I'm a Democrat. If poor people worked harder and stopped wasting money they wouldn't be poor anymore. Also I like recycling, hate country music, and find small towns vaguely disgusting. Vote blue no matter who!"
Whole lotta Democrats are just Republicans who dislike the GOP's aesthetics
Yeah that's the argument I'm making, for sure. Definitely. It's either pay migrant workers a living wage or be able to afford groceries, those are the only two options.
we were fairly poor growing up and still could have stew beef, hamburger steak, or other cheap cuts a couple of times a week. prices are bad and getting worse - telling someone that household staples are treats is weird behavior whn fucking beans are also almost 30% higher than they were 2 years ago
I did not realize that in exchange for groceries getting more expensive we're creating a better society. I did not realize that my desire to afford food was standing in the way of the great transformation into an equitable society that we're undergoing at present
"burrito taxi"/"treatler" discourse is a rebranding of the Republican bootstraps argument
If you stopped wasting money on [small thing that provides even a modicum of happiness and comfort], you wouldn't be poor anymore. You're poor because you're lazy and bad at money
Not that it's anybody's fucking business but I spent so little on food in 2025 that I ate myself into a severe B12 deficiency. So maybe get fucked, maybe try that

I'm so sorry I used an example of a thing that used to be cheap and got very expensive that you think is personally bad, I guess that means you can overlook the broader point and pretend I'm mad about not being able to afford Doordash
I've gotta get off social media.
Fuck you
When you hear people ranting against coastal elites who are out of touch, they're talking about you
By all means keep on doing the "let them eat cake" thing, that's worked out so well historically
I am so happy for everyone who's like "wow lol things aren't unaffordable" all you are doing is gloating that you're doing better than the people who are also can't afford food items that they could afford a few years ago
Whole lot of people are very upset that I think I should be able to afford beef. Beef, I am told, is a special treat and/or bad.
Beef did not used to be a special treat. It's one of many examples I could pull out of things that were within reach for most people and now aren't
I have VA healthcare, no car, a flat (low) rate on utilities, and zero dependents. I'm barely making it. I genuinely do not know how anyone who has the nearly universal expenses I'm skipping out on is surviving right now
Most massively viral thing I've ever done was a beans and rice video on Tiktok like a year ago and it's still making the rounds, absolutely wild, total throwaway video I slapped together for fun
Exactly, like I do not care that the price of big screen TVs and other big-ticket entertainment items keep going down in price, this does not affect my life. I am interested in food and rent
Our "economy" is so divorced from reality at this point that it's essentially mass psychosis
