Thank you so much to Stephanie Burgis, who popped in this week to sign her book!

Wooing the Witch Queen is our Welsh Book of the Month for February; the opening instalment in a delightful cosy romantasy trilogy, which finds a feared sorceress falling for a dark wizard

“Is this thing on?” is wonderful. Bravo Bradley Cooper, Will Arnett and Laura Dern.

Morning, Womble. I’m currently reading “A Comic’s Life Born Standing Up by Steve Martin”. Very good. He is an excellent writer - whether trying to be funny or not.

Cover of Charming by Jade Linwood (Gaie Sebold - purple surrounding a dark towel with various magical / fairy tale swirliness going on : a wolf, a pouch (of gold?) A fairy and a sword. Much better cover!

Gaie also writes as Jade Linwood. If feminist retelling of fairy tales are up your alley (and why wouldn't they be?) I recommend you pick up a copy of Charmed or Beast?

Gaie is a terrific writer and I've had the pleasure of working with her several times.

Slightly cheesy cover of Babylon Steel, a white lady (she's not white in the book) wearing silly armour and carrying a big sword. The quote from Mike Carey says "Ingenious, gripping and full of pleasure on every level. Exceptional."

Genre fans - our lovely friend Gaie Sebold deserves a boost right now. May I recommend Babylon Steel, a book where the cover absolutely fails to do justice to a story of found family and dimension hopping gods, all set in a brothel? It's an excellent book.

I love to go to Chat GPT 5 with its alleged “PhD level expertise” and an ask it about my MA thesis work and see that it really cannot do that level of academic work whatever. It can do a SIMULACRUM of that work, which might fool you if you did not have any expertise.

This isn't a list of jobs that A.I. can easily replace.

It's a list of jobs that techno fascists don't think are worthwhile or meaningful and that they want to eliminate.

They don't want humans to try to make sense of the world, they want us to believe whatever we're told.

Then retrain on that.

Honestly this is the whole thing. While there are some professional bigots who will never change, I truly think a ton of everyday people who have been brainwashed by the hate campaign against trans folks would stop after meeting and learning from real trans folks. That's why they wanna silence us.

I will never forget the photo of Zelenskyy’s face after he saw Russia’s war crimes in Bucha in 2022. He seemed to age years in an afternoon. Watching him constantly cross the world asking for aid that should have been thrown at him is one of the deepest shames of our age.
