What Canada Post could be, and what would be best for local resilience, economies, and the environment right now.

None of this is a utopian vision - it would be the pragmatic thing to do right now in response to the threats we face.

And also one of my favorite interviews I've ever hosted. #CDNpoli

So listen to environmental groups then: www.nationalobserver.com/2026/04/06/n...

Or, you know, don't help with U.S. energy dominance by suggesting we ship gas to billionare data centres there.

Or maybe reverse the various cuts to environmental initiatives... including wildfire response. #CDNpoli

New Gas-Powered Data Centers Could Emit More Greenhouse Gases Than Entire Nations A WIRED review of permits for data center projects using natural gas and linked to OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, and xAI shows they could emit more than 129 million tons of greenhouse gases per year.

NEW: I've been shocked by some of the numbers I've been seeing on behind-the-meter power plants for data centers, so I did a little math.

less than a dozen gas plants being built to power data centers for big tech companies could emit a maximum of nearly 130 million tons of CO2e each year (!)

The brother of federal Industry Minister, Mélanie Joly, is the president and CEO of Intelcom, a courier company that exploits subcontracted delivery drivers for pennies per package. It stands to benefit mightily from the dismantlement and privatization of public postal services in Canada.

Along the top, four images of Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, with text on each, reading in order: "repeated notwithstanding clause attacks on citizens' charter rights; Attacks clean energy sector, killing 99% of renewable investment; Empowers separatists, cozies up to foreign enemies; and Partisan gerrymandering of Alberta's electoral ridings map." Below that, we see four images of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, also with text for each: "Makes fossil fuel expansion priority #1, climate science be damned; Exempts Alberta from energy regulations & adds billions in fossil subsidies; Excludes BC from talks with Alberta about a pipeline to the BC coast; and Doesn't push back on Alberta for violating the Canada Health Act."

It seems that the worse Alberta behaves, the more Mark Carney bends over backwards to appease them with special treatment. His loyalty to fossil fuels seems to trump any loyalty he feels to national unity, to the climate, and to Canada's constitution including our charter of rights and freedoms. 🧵1/

Every child soldier is a victim of abuse that will last a lifetime.
They are used because they are easy to manipulate, train, and - with a still developing frontal cortex - have problems with predicting ramifications of actions.
This kid needs therapy not punishment.
I hope Ukraine helps him.

Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.
