Exciting update! More meals More community Community Food Supply x NHMARF Free community meal from 1-2 pm every Sunday Veteran's Park, Manchester NH communityfoodsupply.org
Since January, a small crew of community members - determined to take direct action to help fight food insecurity - began serving free, hot meals in tandem with the Manchester free store, which is held every Sunday at 1pm. They've been there every week - even in rain and snowstorms - to provide nutritious and filling meals to our community, and helping to fill a gap in meal service within the city. The feedback from free store attendees has been overwhelmingly positive.
Up until now, this project has been entirely self-funded; however, given its success and the organizers' determination to continue serving meals during the free store indefinitely, and to ultimately grow this project into more frequent meal service, they have registered as a charitable org in the state of NH and are pending non-profit status! Please check out Community Food Supply on Facebook and Instagram (@communityfoodsupply) and give them a follow!
We at NH MARF are so excited to see this project grow, and we are thankful for the folks behind Community Food Supply who have made it happen for the past three months; now, we are hoping that more community members who are aligned with this type of work will be able to join them in providing support however possible. Though we know that volunteering and donating money are not accessible to everyone, it helps immensely to simply engage with and share posts. Please help us help them in sustaining this project by tapping the link in our bio. Thank you all! NHMARF logo and CFS logo

Manchester went through their entire back stock of menstrual products today. And the store isn't even until tomorrow! Everyone deserves to have a clean and safe period, help us meet that need ❤️
This change will remain in effect until the weather is consistently warmer; we will post another update when we resume our regular hours. This change will be in effect every week regardless of whether the warming center is open or not.
Rochester Store Update: The Rochester free store will have extended hours through the end of winter. In an effort to accommodate the shuttle for the warming center, Rochester will open early at 5:30pm and stay open until 7pm. The main entrance on Concord St has steps, but if you need an accessible entrance, please go to the side door on Chestnut St where there's an elevator and press the "office" button; swipe to see images and maps.
Please also help us spread the word about this change!
Manchester, it's cold. Windchills will be below zero this weekend. To keep people from having to wait in the cold, we are holding the Manchester Free Store indoors again at 72 Concord St on Sunday, 2/8, from noon - 2pm.

Hi neighbors, due to the dangerously-cold windchills forecasted for this coming weekend, the Manchester free store will be held inside of the YWCA at 72 Concord St instead of at Veteran's Park on Sunday, February 8th. We will also be starting one hour early and running the store from noon until 2pm.
The storm has officially begun to crank. Multiple bands of moderate to heavy snow continue to push north and east across southern New England and into northern New England. #MAwx #CTwx #RIwx #NHwx #VTwx #MEwx

Free Store plans for this Sunday through Tuesday, 1/25-1/27: Manchester: moving indoors to 72 Concord st and opening early from 12-2 Concord and Nashua: same times and places, distributing limited supplies from their cars Rochester: if able to open, opening early on 1/26 at 5:30 DOVER: NO CHANGE AT THIS TIME
Temperatures are dipping into the teens as we type. With the strong winds pushing in, it is already dangerously cold outside. Unfortunately, it will be getting worse before it gets better. Lows are forecasted to be below zero tonight and tomorrow. We will likely see 12"-20" of snow over Sunday and Monday. Winds will be gusting to 40mph.
Please: Check on your family, friends, and neighbors Know your local emergency shelters and advocate for resource gaps to be filled Check your smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors Be safe when using portable/emergency heat sources Keep devices charged Fill your gas tank and keep emergency supplies in your vehicle
Hi friends, please help us spread the word about some important changes to our free stores over the next few days - 1/25 and 1/26 - due to the dangerously cold weather & snowstorm, as well as ways that we can all help keep ourselves and our neighbors safe. Dm us if you have questions and stay safe!
Hey friends, it's -15 degrees outside! In temps like this, exposed or improperly insulated skin can get frostbitten in as little as 10 minutes. Here's how you care for it if it happens.
First, you need to identify what level of frostbite you have!
Help NHMARF support our neighbors by donating new or gently used: Tents Sleeping bags Ground pads Tarps Cordage Jackets Snow pants Sweatshirts Jeans Boots Handwarmers Snacks Gloves Scarves Balaclavas Socks (new only) Long underwear (new only) Backpacks/duffle bags Wagons/carts/ rolling luggage
And as always, you can bring us supplies to get in the hands of people who need them. Thank you!

Oh no
What is extreme cold like in prison?
"My cell was like a walk-in freezer... I taped cardboard across the vent using sanitary pads and propped my travel-sized blow dryer on the high setting in my toilet hole roll as a portable heater"

Mutual aid is beautiful. It’s a source of hope in times of fear. Though unfortunate that it is even ever needed, it also demonstrates what is possible when communities come together. It shows what is possible, what has always been possible, and what will remain possible after fascism is defeated
Have any NH cities declared a cold emergency?

They should remove any barriers to utilizing shelters and be doing outreach. Anything less is neglect
As dangerously cold weather approaches New Hampshire, officials are urging people to make sure they are prepared.
The Rochester store is every Monday but any of our drop off locations work! We pick up regularly
And please get inside. Many people can't go inside due to unreasonable restrictions but the shelters and cities and whoever can waive those. It's dangerously cold out there and people will get hurt if they aren't allowed to bring their things inside.
Throw us a buck to buy hand warmers
That's it
That's the post
