Many things are bad, but you don't have to be. You can be reliable and stable for yourself and the people you care about. Try to eat something, drink a big glass of water, and do one thing at a time, even if it's an email.

I know how hard and overwhelming everything feels right now. Max loves you.

Said it before: as someone who uses databases to find people, search results are the *start* of finding a person, not the end. IMHO, ICE is trained how to do basic look-ups on a database (Palantir's?) but not how to fine-tune those results.

Far, far worse is how those wrong results are then used ⬇️

Surprise inspection finds ICE stuffing migrants 'like sardines' into a facility with no bed, showers Three lawmakers visited a Mesa ICE facility unannounced and found overcrowding, with 250 detainees packed into rooms "like sardines"

“I’ve never experienced anything like this in my entire life,” Rep Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) said, fighting back tears. The Tucson Democrat described the way people were laying down inside as “like sardines.” “It is frightening in there,” Grijalva said. “It is disgusting.”

The myth is that this is a reorganization. The fact is it’s a dismantling, carefully worded to avoid outright lies while gutting everything that makes the agency function.

Teen who went to photograph LA ‘No Kings’ rally shot, blinded by Homeland Security agent, attorney says A University of Southern California freshman who went to photograph a recent “No Kings” protest in downtown Los Angeles was allegedly shot with a less-lethal projectile by a Department ...

Tucker Collins is 18. A USC freshman. He went to the LA No Kings rally on March 28 with a camera. He came home without an eye. A DHS agent fired a “less-lethal”projectile that destroyed his eyeball and fractured his eye socket. He was documenting the protest and just taking pictures.

I went and saw Project Hail Mary.
A guy came in with his service dog and the dog sat there the whole time just concentrating on the movie.
Afterwards I told the guy I was amazed your dog watched the movie like that.
He replied, me too especially because he hated the book.

Unexpected EHT intern alert!

This bird had gotten lost in the fog and appeared at the IRAM 30-m control room door- more than 1,500 meters above its usual habitat.

After a brief "internship," it was safely released back into nature the next morning.

The scheduled observer at the SARA remote 0.6m telescope in Chile couldn't use last night, so I spent a little while following Artemis II (range 354,000 km). Left, 2m exposure tracking on stars; right, 1m tracking on the spacecraft. Much brighter than Artemis I, due to more favorable phase angle.

A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.
