A Critical Political Season Could Decide if Alaska Is a Failed ‘Petrostate’

Focusing on Juneau, this article highlights what the lack of smart oil and other taxes is doing to Alaska. I think AK is a failing state in part because the current governor has so harmed youth and college education that capable young people don't want to move here. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/25/u...

I'm mourning the permanent loss of NW Alaska's Arctic region's wild lands as the NPRA will be covered with oil exploration and likely development after today's lease sale. This is a direct result of Trump's overturning of the previous, scientifically sound, management plan.

White House considers Ambler Road funding A direct equity partnership in the critical minerals infrastructure project is being weighed. From equity stakes in mining companies such as MP Materials and Trilogy Metals to the proposed $12 billion...

The federal govt didn't do its homework on the Strait of Hormuz and now it may make a similar mistake by not studying the cost and other problems with the proposed Ambler road. The mining companies could go bankrupt and potential returns then would be gone. www.miningnewsnorth.com/story/2026/0...

Lawmakers slam Dunleavy officials over plan for new ferry terminal north of Juneau Legislators questioned a decision to spend $28.5 million on the Cascade Point ferry terminal amid local opposition.

Alaska’s Governor Dunleavy spent nearly $30 mill. in state dollars on this ferry project that may not be finished and that communities don’t want. That $28.5 mill., if reappropriated as state match $, could fund $285 mill. in roads/bridges statewide.

Why does the @washingtonpost.com not have any coverage of the newly released Jack Smith interview? Do they not have the reporters to cover it or are they burying it today and will write about it in a few days? Very unimpressive.

My thoughts are with the people of Western Alaska. If emergency funds are needed, or funding needs to be reimbursed, I will absolutely support it this coming session. I hope and trust that our emergency services personnel will do all that they can.
