Almost two weeks on from publication and I am totally overwhelmed by all the lovely things people are saying about My Grandmother’s Secret. She’s making her way up the charts too.
Look at that!!

All sorts of feelings, mostly fear, at the prospect of the first reviews 🫣

Proof this guy is full of SITH.
Apologies it’s late in the day, happy birthday. Hope you’ve had a marvellous day.
🧵NOT BY ME, this is a post from someone who wants to remain anonymous but works extensively with trans people pre-transition. They were asked by someone “why do you think that’s so much [coverage of trans people] in the news at the moment?”
This was their response:
848. 541 fiction, 307 non-fiction. 273 TBR. I have a spreadsheet.
I am beyond excited to reveal my debut novel. My Grandmother’s Secret is out in July, but it can be pre-ordered right now. geni.us/B0F38NBB9Qau...
Isn’t she gorgeous!!
Actually don’t think they’re active on here - but they are on Insta.
Can I recommend @thehappynewspaper.bsky.social
Phenomenal women like Betty were the inspiration for a character in one of my books. Anyone who gets the chance should visit Bletchley Park, what was done there was truly mind blowing.
🤣🤣
Pretty sure the Starlings round my way all tell each other to visit my balcony to do their business. Reckons they give each other points for how far up my window they can poop.
Apparently I need a sports bra and period pants. Um, no.
Finally home. My poor foot is very swollen and bruised. Lots of rest and elevation for the next few days. I am not leaving the house.
I want to be a manatee in my next life.
Gritting my teeth and pushing through the pain because I’m going home. How I’m going to manage getting my suitcase up three flights of stairs when I get there is a bridge I’ll cross when I get there.
Cheerio Arosa. Maybe next time will be better. I won’t hold it against you, though. You’re still one of my favourite places to visit.
Splitting the long journey home in two seeing as I can only move at the pace of an asthmatic sloth in this damned ankle.
That last line gets me every time.
I am feeling very sorry for myself at the moment, having sprained my ankle so thought I deserved a treat. But which one??? Couldn’t decide so bought three. After all, what do we do when we’re feeling blue? We click “add to cart” 🤣
Just realised that book 3, which is the entire reason I have come to Switzerland in the first place, features a character falling and spraining her ankle. I have been smotted (?) by the writing gods.
Hobbled down to the nearest supermarket. Realised I had no way to freeze an ice pack so bought a bag of frozen peas. Now resting with my ankle elevated with a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel on it. Sure, I’d be doing the same at home 😂
