For a long time I didn’t use the d-word. The 4-letter word that explains why you’re no longer here. Died. She died. Agnes died. You died.
I didn’t avoid that word for its harshness. I avoided it because it was so alien to my concept of you.

Poor Europe?

just to name a few 😉
Also, if you’re into it, this is a fantastic deep dive on the film’s layers:

I don’t think the film was saying "this is how it has to be" or trying to make hard predictions. It was more about control vs. freedom.
Truman chose to leave once he realised the truth had been hidden.
That doesn’t mean no one would ever consent to such a life... only that *he* wouldn’t.
It just shows that _this_ particular show required deception to work the way it did.
A version with informed consent would’ve been a completely different kind of show... and arguably a less compelling one for the viewers in that universe.
I love both those movies. Great point about The Fifth Element... I haven’t rewatched it in a while, now I want to.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don’t think The Truman Show implies that "you couldn't do this unless you tricked someone."
Wait a sec… Max looks so smol in this photo!

"I thought I had 30-40 subscriptions [...] €500/month..."
I did not.

Want to do your own audit? I share my free subscription audit template...
😅 nope. But it does include a handful of questionable things like 3 separate Amazon prime subscriptions
I’ll be posting a video about it in the next day or two 😅
How many subscriptions do you have? I thought I had 30-40, spending maybe €500/month. Turns out, I was way off—try 89 and €1,200/month.
It’s time to fix this. I’m building SubScout to track and manage it all.

It's my story of leaving my dev job, and trying to build something meaningful. Would mean a lot if you checked it out. Promise to get better at this whole video thing 😅
After months of thinking about it, I finally did it. It's not perfect - my voice sounds weird (doesn't everyone's?), I fumble some words, and I'm pretty nervous throughout... but it's real.
Just posted my first ever video. Nervous but excited to share my story of starting over at 46 🎥
